Hello,

My wife filled the I-130 form at the middle of October. After that the cheque was cached and she received the leter with the Receipt Number and that the case was transfered to Vermont Office. Yesterday I got this update to USCIS website and I'm looking around for any explanation, hope anybody here can help:

"Case Was Received At My Local Office

On December 2, 2015, we received your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXX, at your local office. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

What does that mean that the case has arrvied at Vermont or the Vermont office send it back to local office?

Best regards and hope of you have a faster proccesing time :)

Hey guys, we called NVC today to ask if they received our case (it's been 1 month after the i-130 petition was approved by USCIS, so we figured we gave them enough time to assign us a case number at NVC).

We started dialing at around 3pm EST, first three times it said all lines are busy and disconnected us. When we tried for the 4th time we were connected and we had to wait around 40 minutes to talk to a person at NVC. The lady was really nice and helpful.

She confirmed that our case was received by NVC and our case number was assigned just yesterday! We got both the case number and invoice identification number and also gave her our emails addresses.

When we disconnected with NVC we were able to log in to our account at http://ceac.state.gov/and view our profile. Next step is filling out DS-261, Choice of Agent form.

Good luck guys!

Yes, it's normal. In my case it took exactly 1 month from when my case was approved by USCIS (Nov 3rd) to when we were issued a case number by NVC (Dec 3rd).

  • 3 weeks later...

Has anyone sent in all of their documents for the visa application (DS260 & supporting docs, I864 and supporting docs)? I have done this on the 19th of January via email as Australia is a country where you can apply via email. I got an autoresponse showing that they have received my emails... Now to wait and hope that I did everything correctly and sent everything I needed (I checked sooo many times I hope I did it all right.

I got this via email today:

Dear Sir/Madam,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 20-JAN-16. We are experiencing a high volume of incoming mail at this time. Please allow 30 days from the date we received your mail for the NVC to review your documents. We are diligently working to reduce our review time and appreciate your patience. The NVC will notify you after our review if there is additional information required or if we are able to schedule your case for an interview overseas.

A bit hard to be patient but hopefully they will be contacting me next to schedule the interview.
