Hi there! I'm trying to figure out if I need police checks and unfortunately the consulate has not been overly helpful. Some information I am getting online says I need a police certificate from any country I have lived in for longer than 6 months but this email I got from the consulate leads me to believe its one year:

"Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate from each country in which the applicant has resided for one year or longer. The certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the date of the visa appointment. NOTE: An applicant must present a police certificate from his/her country of current residence and country of nationality, if residence in such country exceeds 6 months."

I studied in ireland for less than one year (was there 3 months, home for 7 weeks, back to ireland for 3.5-4 months)

Do I need an Irish police certificate or just one from my current country which is my country of citizenship/where I was born?

Thank you!

Check out this link: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

Basically, you need it from the countries where you currently reside and are a national of if you've lived there for more than 6 months.

For countries where you previously resided, it's if you lived there for 1 year or more.
