first cousin marriage is legal in California as well as same sex marriage, as for the text messages you can always do screenshots I did that for my petition I sent tons of chats and text messages ( is better to be over prepared ) also print out phone logs from your phone company that shows you guys also communicate over the phone, pictures if you took any when you were in Vietnam.. by the time she has her interview you should have a little more evidence for her to take to the embassy.. Good luck to the both of you :)

I think they need real evidence.

It's going to be tough to prove this is a real relationship. It's become a popular visa fraud stunt to get family members into the USA by the ASAP route.

Yes, I understand fraud is a big concern in Vietnam. Proving the development of our relationship will be critical. We are in constant contact since the day we met. We communicate via facetime, which is going to be interesting since my phone history just logs it as data usage. I have printscreens our activities on Facebook and printed photos from activities we do together. I am providing airline and hotel confirmations. We also text message, but I don't know how to get the messages off my phone onto paper to send with my submission. Any suggestion on that?

I got an app for my phone to get all my text messages together. I can't remember the name of the app, but there are some out there

I have another trip planned for this December to spend time with my fiance in VN. We are traveling to Singapore as well. My initial submission will have plenty of photos from my past trip to VN, but we'll take more in December in VN and Singapore. My ATT wireless bill doesn't detail my facetime calls. You can't tell who the call was from or to, it just logs as data. So frustrating.

You need more than chat evidence to demonstrate a bona fide relationship. You need face to face time. You've spent a few weeks together. And have only know each other for a couple of months. The majority of folks doing K1's through HCMC have multiple visits. You would want photos together visiting with relatives, out together, traveling (DaLat, Nha Trang, Halong Bay, Mui Ne) etc. The normal things that a couple does. Just chat isn't likely to be enough.

You need to concentrate on folks who have been successful at HCMC along with other same sex couples. Saying that you love each other after a few weeks isn't enough. Especially here in VN where fraud and scamming has been raised to an art form.

Then be smart and use apps/methods that do give you evidence. Saying "I can't show you" won't cut it.

FYI, young VN girls have been having difficulty entering Singapore recently. The unspoken reason is that Singapore is trying to reduce the number of foreign prositututes. They never make it past the immigration hall and get put on the next plane back to VN. http://tuoitrenews.vn/business/30011/local-carriers-cry-for-help-as-singapore-keeps-denying-entry-to-vietnamese-women

My only question is with the high fraud in VN, how does the evidence get disambiguified from a romantic coupling vs say just family gatherings. I'll admit immediately upon reading OP I was skeptical and I think that will be the case here....the overwhelming burden of proof will lie on OP, as this could seem like unorthodox way to assist ext fam.

There is a phone card company that tracks calls but calling cards to vn are expensive.

FT logs are locally on the phone, sort of, you have to screen shot them 1/1 and it sucks. But it shows who you called, when and how long. You have to keep up w/ it and you can't screen shot immediately (so you wouldnt forget, cause unfortunately the phone defaults by saying 'today' or yesterday' so you have to wait a few days). but do NOT wait too long as the call/history logs truncate over time (not sure how long)

I suggest also going to http://www.cousincouples.com/ which is a great resource specifically for cousin couples. They do have a forum as well so you can ask there to see if anyone can give you any knowledge about the immigration process. Please bring back anything you learn and post it here, so that other VJ'ers can benefit!

I went to my green card interview alone since my wife was in Afghanistan serving for the Marines. The OP did not believe me she was there and then she sent me a letter asking for e mail and prove of communication. So yes, text messages, e mails, and anything else you can gather would be considered as valid proof. My green card was accepted.
