CVs (called resumes in the USA) are not normally needed, unless you are applying for a B1/B2 joint visa to also attend work meetings perhaps. Look on the website for your local US embassy for what is really needed, which is mostly ties to home- you may have read about it being recommended you have a good job to go back to, and confused that with needing a cv?

hi I have a question if im about to take USMLE step 2 in the US soon (this is an exam for physicians only offered in the united states) but I have a family based petition from my mom on process. Can I apply for a tourist visa? what are my chances of getting one if I have a valid reason of entering US, and in case I got approved what will be the status of my family based petition? thanks in advance.

Hi good day, thank you so much for replying to my topic. I will apply here in this web site, www.ustraveldocs.com/au, and it is said there that these are the requirements for me to complete the DS-160 form.

Passport

Travel itinerary, if you have already made travel arrangements.

Dates of your last five visits or trips to the United States, if you have previously travelled to the United States. You may also be asked for your international travel history for the past five years.

Résumé or Curriculum Vitae - You may be required to provide information about your current and previous education and work history.

Other Information - Some applicants, depending on the intended purpose of travel, will be asked to provide additional information when completing the DS-160.

This is the website of the requirements http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/forms/ds-160--online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/frequently-asked-questions.html

I just want to make sure that I will have a resume if incase they will ask for it

Let's not hijack other's threads. You may start your own in the future.

You may always apply. Valid reason to go to the US is irrelevant. Everyone has a valid reason. Your ties to PI will matter the most.

Any follow up questions, please start a new thread

good luck

What is wrong with the VWP?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
