Hello community,

I am into looking for venues in these days.

And I would like to know about your venues...since I am a such romantic girl, I would love to hear from you.

Describe the best thing about your wedding.

We would like to organize an outdoors ceremony, but being sure to have an alternative option in case of rainy weather.

Something rustic or either something in the nature, we would be something just like us.

For who hasn't get married yet, where would you like to do it?

Can't wait to read your replies.

We're going to be having a January wedding in the DC area and so we're stuck indoors.

No matter which way I sliced it, I couldn't really confidently plan anything to happen before Thanksgiving, and I was mostly right. In theory, if I was marrying someone who is good at paperwork and following instructions, he could have moved here as early as a week or so ago and we could risk an outdoor October wedding but (1) I am not marrying someone who is good at paperwork and following instructions (2) even with visa-in-hand that would still feel rushed and cutting it close (3) I had no way of knowing that we'd get our NOA2 after only 5 months, 3 weeks. Most of TSC was taking 7 months. There are still people with my NOA1 date waiting.

Either way, this is a historic property ever so conveniently located walking distance from our house (I used to live actually right across the street from here, but I have moved up a ways). It used to be a bank and now it is a museum and cultural center. It's nice, and it'll do. I mostly just love my town and want to incorporate it and the things that make it special to me in our day.

And the reception in a significantly less upscale place but much bigger so that there's room for more people in general and tables, food, dancing etc, isn't too far from here and, very importantly to me, isn't one of these outrageous "minimum spend" type places (basically every hotel or reception hall in the area). For me it's not the money, it is the principle of the matter. I don't negotiate with terrorists :diablo: . It's just a fraternal order that has a perfectly serviceable hall that they'll rent out for basically nothing. No "preferred caterers" ("preferred" meaning "if you want your wedding here, you must use this person who I am probably in a business relationship with and whose cheapest package is $75/head for a finger food luncheon"), can bring your own alcohol, decorate as you please etc.

I am attempting to keep the ceremony private partly out of preference but also logistics. I am losing the battle on this front, though.

Can't seem to get an embedded photo of the reception site but it's attached. That's from my 30th birthday party. I'm going to spring for tablecloths this time. And maybe some matching chairs. (There will totally be matching chairs. I've gone a little crazy on Pinterest). :)

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

We got married at a park which sits on a cliff and overlooks the bay, the restaurant there let us use their dinning facility for our reception, and if it had rained we'd of held the ceremony in their garden porch under a lighted canopy. :) We also made good use of the private beach for photographs.

Me and my wife got married 3rd day in country at City Hall in Quezon City, Philippines. Sure wasnt romantic. A friend of her's from work gave her the wedding dress of her daughter's, who cancelled wedding plans, 2 years ago. Maybe this will be the year we renew our vows at our church here in the hills of Tennessee. This year will be 8 years, in January... But maybe we need to wait until she finishes nursing school this next year in May? The wedding dress is hanging in the closet at my mom and dad's house, just waiting for the day, because we dont have anywhere for it to hang neatly in our own house. Too much stuff in the closets.

We are most likely going to be getting married at a country club in my city :) It's a really nice place and my parents have offered to pay for most of the wedding expenses and made it clear that they want me to have a nice wedding. (I know that makes me sound spoiled, I promise I'm not! I pay for my schooling, car, health insurance, rent etc on my own)

I know you didn't ask about decorations but since the whole international relationship is a thin and both of our country's flags are red white and blue the colors are going to be red navy and white. Also going to have a lot of decorations referencing each of our countries!

I'm trying not to get too head of myself. We are still pretty early on in the process and there is of course always the possibility of denial but I can't help but me exited!

We had a quickly planned but lovely wedding. We live in FL and we were married on the beach off of a private park my parents are members of. We rented a chickee hit in case of rain, but otherwise, it was for free. Then we had a beautiful and intimate reception at my parent's house on the bay. We spent around $5000 and I would say 90% of that went to the caterers. We did a made-to-order pasta bar and it was perfect. It was lovely.

MorganandMichael are you getting married in the Milwaukee area? We were originally going to get married in Wisconsin (my home state) but changed to FL after I had done research but before we had booked anything. If the country club doesn't work out, I have plenty of research done on venues and caterers.
