VJ has nothing to do with USCIS. All data is user reported and thus only as reliable as people's input. A lot of VJ users are ignorant of the difference between the lockbox in Texas and the Service Centers TSC and CSC. They send their petition to the Texas lockbox and input that they are at TSC, despite them actually being at CSC. hence, this screws up VJ time line predicitions due to the large disparity in processing speed. Do not ever believe VJ predictions.

True enough but in theory the CSC reported timelines should be for more realistic as those that entered CSC were more clear of that, its really only the TSC timelines that could have more stochastic variance, no?

No since a bunch of CSC people put down TSC as their center because they don't realize what the lockbox is for so the timeline predictions for both gets messed up. CSC just shows up as less people being there but the predictions will still be off.

Im picking up what you're putting down.

I was confused with the whole lock box myself, and still dont understand it had I filed myself manually.

It's pretty simple. EVERYONE send their application to the Texas Lockbox and then they send it to the proper Service Center. It used to be based on where you live but not it's more depending on the workload since the old system got Texas severely backlogged.

Thanks Maria&Seve

I just look at timelines as some sort of gauge...not a end all / be all and certainly not realtime nor linked w/ USCIS and the NVC timelines are still interesting since the CEAC tracking is pretty lacking and the having to phone NVC is a bit frustrating so hopefully the NVC values are a bit more reliable.

Is the EAD/AP/AOS times more accurate (I haven't focused on those yet, as didnt want to get ahead of myself) or do they suffer the same issues?

Yeah they should definitely not be taken too serious, just as a may or may not happen kind of thing. The timeline stuff here on VisaJourney is so confusing and messy I haven't even bothered looking at them apart from checking my own timeline and see when it predicts I'll be processed. I'm just part of a thread with people who filed the same month as me and check how far they've come.
