WB pulled the plug on the Dirty Harry game I've been working on for 2 years and our company was forced to lay off most of the crew...myself included. After the initial shock, I had sensed something bad in the air. I had been with the company nearly 5 years but was ready to move on - I had stayed on long enough for the visa to be issued so this could be a blessing in disguise.

They're giving me a reasonable severance package and I should be okay for at least a month. I'm hoping that it won't be that long before I land another animation job elsewhere. I've also been waiting tables a few nights a week, so have that to fall back on.

What a funky feeling. I could say it was bad timing but actually, I'm thankful that it happened after Jinky's visa was issued.

apply for unemployement benifits. you should done this YESTERDAY if you have not done so do that. the unemployment office counts the day you FILE not the day you got laid off.

secondly take your 401K consider rolling it into IRA. Mean while there are 2 job search engines I recommend

snagajob.com and careerbuilders.com.

There is a shortage of offshore oil field workers in the Gulf of Mexico. They work on a 7 day on / 7 day off or 14 day on / 14 day off shift rotation. Heck...you could still live in Cali and commute. Try it...you might like it. ;)

Gulp.. wouldnt it be a lot more fun to work on a cruiseship for that matter.

But not nearly as financially rewarding.

Why is it that fun jobs pay peanuts and sucky jobs have hefty salaries? Answer: Because that's just the way it is! ;)

" Quote: Thank you and everyone for the well wishes. I've been laughing to myself thinking about guys who get laid off but drive off every morning to go to work so not to worry their wives. I'm thinking I might do that...I don't want her to panick."

This is the absolutly WORST thing you could do to her. Please tell me you don't honestly believe Lying to her will help!? Believe me, Jinky would be more upset that you lied and played games like this, then being honest and telling her you lost your job.

Goodluck with your next job and hopefully it will be just around the corner.
