Form I-824 Follow to Join Processing Time

Hello all,

I won't be able to make the 1 year deadline from the initial k1 visa to get the k2 visa for my wife's child so I have to file the I-824 to send the consulate in Manila, Philippines my wife's approval of change of status.

It says 3 months on the processing time, but we all know it's different in some situations/places, like the I-129F only took 1 month, but it says 5 months on the USCIS website.

Question is: Does anyone know or heard of the current processing time for the I-824 follow to join, for Manila, Philippines, or any other place, just so I can get a better average?

An I-824 is not appropriate in this situation. If the K-2 derivative visa isn't issued before a year from the K-1's issuance then an I-824 cannot do it either.

The proper course of action would be for you to file an I-130 for the child(ren) as their stepparent if you married before the child turned 18. Alternatively, or if you married after the child(ren) turned 18, your LPR spouse can file an I-130 for them, but would need to wait for a visa number to become available (around 18 months right now).

Yes, and one year is the limit on follow-to-join benefits.
