Hey you guys! Just got done with the interview down here in Memphis, TN we actually in our way back to our hotel room. We got to the office at 7:45am and got called separately around 9:15am the officer called my husband name first, they took less than 10mins, he sit back in the waiting area then the officer called my name. Did the oath thing and sat down, asked about pretty much 10 questions about me and followed up by those criminal questions which i answered no to all. Then he said, I can't change my middle name just yet so the name that's going to appear in my green card is my original middle name and my husbands last name. He also said to wait for 10-14 days for the green card to arrive in the mail. ???

Great news congrats!!!! Interesting on them telling you, you had to use your middle name and you couldn't change it yet. I have read where others have had issues. When we went to Biometrics the lady that checked us in looked at my wife's Passport and our marriage license and told us absolutely not, I had filed her AOS paperwork with her middle name as her last name and her last name same as mine. She immediately called her supervisor and spoke with her and she got off the phone and told us that we would have to do an infopass and change her name because they wouldn't approve this. Well talking to others here I blew her off and my wife's green card came with the name as we put it.

Congrats for the good news!

Thank you Longrangeshootr! and yes! i know, very interesting, weird and confusing. I already got my SSN before i had my interview and the name i used in my SSN application also in my EAD card is the same name i used in my adjustment of status. You would think once you get married and carried the husband's last name your original last name will automatically became your middle name but apparently the officer told us that we cannot do that unless i became a US Citizen. So now i will be having all sorts of fun changing my name in all important documents and paperwork.

I have a confusing notification from USCIS yesterday, it says they denied my I-751 but I already have my GC and SS# , I still don't know the reason why it was denied but I assumed that it is now irrelevant as I already got my GC right?, your comment , confirmation on my assumption will be highly appreciated.

Congrats to all approvals !!!

I-751 form is used "For a conditional resident who obtained status through marriage to apply to remove the conditions on his or her residence."

So You should be filing this form after you get conditional GC. I think you should not have filed it with your AOS application and that is why it got denied. Let me know if I misunderstood you.

Thank you for your reply, I applied concurrently in Oct. 2015 , then got my GC on Feb 12, 2016 then received this I-751 denial Last March 15. 2016 . I have not received the hard copy explaining the reason. I am currently holding a conditional GC. So my thought is , since they gave me my GC that the denial is already irrelevant as my GC now replaced my I-751?

You either filed the Form I-765, which would have been denied on the grounds that you obtained the benefit through other means OR you filed the Form I-751, which would have been denied on the grounds that you have not been a conditional resident with two years.

Form I-765 = EAD

Form I-751 = ROC

Hang in there! The more I read on the forums, there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason why some cases move faster while others dont. Luck plays a huge part. Good luck to you.

It is I-765 that I filed , sorry for the misinformation. Thank you for enlightening me.
