I tried to exchange it since I am from Italy and we have a EU license.

But APPARENTLY they only exchange the FRENCH - GERMAN - SOUTH KOREAN ones. :sleepy:

We moved to VA in mid-Dec (new military duty station), so we decided to wait until we so not to have to go back again to the DMV to re-change it once we moved since it was already November.

But it's nuts...I understand if we drove on the left like in the UK or Japan or South Africa, but I don't see the point on wasting everybody's time to redo it if you have it already and it's not expired. :ranting:

(what makes me mad is that the EU has the same "road-code" everywhere) :ranting:

Wow this is crazy. Did you go to exchange your out of country for a MD license or were you applying for a new one? I've had a learning permit for people over 25 during my status as an F1. Decided to do my skills exam using NOA1 for AOS and EAD. I passed, but they had to run a SAVE verification and I received a call a week later stating that USCIS allowed MVA to give me my license for 1 month. Can you believe it? My husband has a GC and exchanged his license for MD one. It's a very complicated process. The good thing about it is that you get to keep your driving record from your home country. Message me if you need details on MD's MVA process.

Oh man, it's VA, thought it was MD. Sorry, I know how you feel. We came from the Caribbean where we drive on the left like UK. License had to be valid(not expired), husband had to get his driving record from home, then had to go to Antiguan embassy in DC to have it certified, then complete the written and skills exam, do 3 hrs drug and alcohol before they exchanged for a full license for someone with a 20 years driving record. Good luck.

P.S. All this with a GC

This process of AOS is testing my faith and perseverance..for the sake of true love. It's a roller coaster journey isn't it? Yes, any positive news deserves a celebration!!! And Visa Journey is so addicting that it has become a part of my daily routine. . I am just glad we have this forum to get through this positively so we can exchange insights which makes the feeling of waiting bearable. Just sharing my thoughts in this snowy and melancholic weather. :innocent:

Funny thing, I was talking to my husband about this..I said AOS (or actually the whole moving to 'Murica) process is a good way of testing couples LOL

After all the waiting/frustration/stupid paperwork etc. you know each other way better and you see how each other act in situations in which normal couples won't, usually.
