Her two charges were for making a threat and for publishing an offensive message. The latter charge is silly and should not even be a law. The former is questionable because her threat was not directed at any person or group. White men being vague.

promoting (1) murder (2) a specific skin color (3) a specific gender............

seems to me like it falls into a hate crime at the least.

how can a tweet be a hate crime if no one is even hurt (besides feelings)?

promoting murder would be a bit more severe, but that's where context comes in.

You do not have to carry out the act yourself, encouraging others to go kill people is enough.

You do not have to carry out the act yourself, encouraging others to go kill people is enough.

Twitter whatever is used as the medium of communication does not really matter.

There are laws against incitement to commit criminal acts and she is very aware of them as this is not her first rodeo.

Now Val, you know it's different when you're the target of something like this. Folks here are in an uproar because it said all white men. If it was #killthekenyan or #killallmuslims some of these folks would be dead silent.

With that said, I think her # is stupid. Advocating for anyone the murder of anyone needs to have their head examined, esp nowadays when a simple suggestion from the right person can get someone beaten silly or worse...
