I -130 Question on common-law marriage

I am a US citizen and had a common-law marriage 30 to 40 years ago. I can recall receiving a paper in the mail saying, if I did not reply to the letter the marriage would be dissolved.

When I applied for a marriage certificate in 1999 I listed the previous common-law marriage. The county clerk said there was no record of this prior marriage and to change the number of times I had been married.

Before filling out the I-130, we contacted a lawyer to search the marriage database in hopes we could find the direction to locate any paperwork. The database came back with only my previous marriage and no others. We filed the I-130 two months ago. Since then our house sold and we are cleaning up after 20 years at this residence. Guess what we found..... The paperwork that was sent to me 30 years ago.

Now the question is what do I do?

7/29/15 NOA1, TSC

10/7/15 Entered USA for three weeks to close escrow and pack house

12/5/15 Entered USA for 90 days to visit

12/7/15 I-130 approved,NOA2

NVC

12/23/15 NVC received package

1/5/2016 Called NVC

1/7/2016 Called NVC, assigned case # and IIN #

1/7/2016 Assigned choice of agent

1/7/2016 Paid AOS fees

1/21/2016 Paid packet IV fees

2/20/2016 Filed DS-260

3/30/2016 Sent NVC package

4/5/2016 NVC received package

5/5/2016 Email from NVC...case complete with interview date 6/17

6/10/2016 Medical

6/17/2016 Interview - Approved :)

The common law might of been diffrent 30 or 40 years ago if the clerk told you they have no record . You and your lawyer search there is no record then tou should not worry about it
