actually, we call it back bacon, or peameal bacon. Ham is something else entirely.

In the United Kingdom, the cereal was first produced by Nabisco's former UK division but is now made by Cereal Partners under the Nestlé brand at Welwyn Garden City. The factory opened in 1926. It began making Shreddies in 1955. The site was briefly owned by Rank Hovis McDougall in 1988, who sold it to Cereal Partners in 1990. Nestle's site at Staverton started making Shreddies in 1998, and is where all production will be moved in 2008.

The cereal is one of a number of whole-grain cereals marketed with the whole grain symbol, as part of a marketing campaign emphasising the healthiness of the cereal. It began manufacture in Canada in 1939 at Lewis Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

LOVING the bagged milk conversations! When I moved to Ontario 5 years ago..I thought my husband was joking when he brought out the bagged milk! We became friends with many other Canadian/American couple online and at our first get together with all the couples bagged milk was the number 1 topic...LOL..I had to share my experience of cutting the milk bag open on the wrong side, and then cutting on the right side, but making the hole either too small or way too big..I was actually banned from milk openings for about 2 months..LOL.. another couple shared that her US husband actually cut the ENTIRE top off the bag!

I actually took pictures of my husband doing a step by step process of putting the milk in the pitcher and opening it for my family and friends back home..I scrapbook and ended up doing a Layout of it called "Got Milk?...IN A BAG!!!" ..LOL

I also have to agree with whoever said that there are a lack of Caesar Salad dressings in the US, before I moved here it was all about RANCH for me...I still love Ranch, always will (I have to get the DRY Hidden Valley Ranch packets sent from the US) but I will miss the Renees Brand Mighty Caesar! and so will my husband he hates ranch..LOL

My fiance has a milk pitcher with a pointy spike at the bottom. You just drop the bag in on the pointy spike and pull the bag slowly out as the milk exits from the bottom into the pitcher...very cool and mess free...

Wished I had one of those when I lived there...

I have been married to a Canadian for nearly 4 years now and I have visited Canada twice and just literally *yesterday* I found out about the horrifying concept known as "bagged milk." Personally, I hate milk, so I am bias already, but still.....ugh. I shudder to think.

What my Canadian husband misses is: Beer with more alcohol content (he also swears Molson tastes way different down here), Coffe Crisp (which we recently found at World Market), poutine (sp? which makes my friends and family snicker).

What I miss: Canadian Tire money (cos it's so cool, not that I eat it or anything), Maple leaves on the McDonald's signs, Tropical Splash 7-Up (it's been almost 4 years and still no sign of it in the US), and oh, these chips, I don't know who makes them, but they are chicken flavoured! Yum. Ahh, the sweet memories of Canada. I miss it.

I lived in Saskatchewan for 26 years and never saw ONE bag of milk. Maybe it's unique to Ontario?

I grew up in Prince Albert Sk and do recall having bagged milk. Not in recent yrs though, but I did work at the CO-OP and at 1 time we did have it. I know they still have it in NS.

that is correct, my grandmother in Cape Breton held out as long as she could using bagged milk! I think we finally got her convinced to use the plastic jugs.

I think at one time the bagged milk was cheaper, thus making it more attractive, bu tover time the prices evened out between it and carton milk???

Bagged milk died out on the West Coast quite a few years ago. I have seen it around, but it's very hard to find.

I didn't cry to go back to cartons. LOL

In quebec its still the only thing we use for 4 liters. The rest is cartons.

I believe most breweries have a slightly different recipe for their imports sent to the US.

If I remember a carton of milk is 1 gallon, while the bags, are 3 gallons or liters or whever the hell they measure them in. So it basically is buying them in bulk and saving milk trips to the store or buying 3 bulky box cartons since it's easier to carry. That's just what I've thought.

Oh and I think the chips that taste like chicken are I think BBQ Chicken flavor...

Actually, cartons come in 0.5, 1 and 2 litre versions (for Americanese, you can substitute "quart" for "litre"). The bags come in packs of 3 x 1.3 litres each (for roughly 1 gallon).

The chicken chips (lol) that I like are Roasted Chicken flavour. Just remembered that. BBQ sounds good too, though. There are also these mini brownies at Quick Trips in Sask. that I adore.

Yeah roasted Chicken that's right. Canada has such a wide variety of chips that's for sure. Here in the grocery store (other then gormet chips or like here unusual local brands), the mainstream chips consist of about 4 different types. BBQ, Ranch, Plain, Sour Cream and Oniono (or cheddar). I think that's about it, I can't even find Dill anymore.

I go to Canada and they have so many strange types it's so cool. Now I want to try that chicken type again...

I found it years ago and love seeing what new products will be coming out... another thing I will miss about Canada..all the chip flavors..my family in Vegas loves when we visit because we literally have 2 suitcases full of "crazy Canadian snacks"...LOL their favorite chip that we take is Lays Fries and Gravy!

my husband and I really like the new Lays Chili Garlic chip, so far weve only found it at Shoppers Drug Mart
