Getting ready for their interview which is coming up. When visas are in hand, I will need to book tickets in Manila so they can return with me to the U.S. I've book my round trip ticket and of course want them to return on my return flights.

Asiana Airline is the carrier on which I am flying back. Does Asiana have an office in Manila for booking flights to the U.S.? I've booked with other airlines at NAIA. Just need to be sure this can be done there or with a toll free call from Philippines.

Thanks for your help!

yes you can google it. Since you already have your return flight you should book it online as soon as possible . To make sure there are seats avaible on your return flight. Even tho in most cases it cost more for one way flight. I will of bought two one ways for me and one way for her to make sure we will have seats together on the return flight

Or at least make sure she had her seat on the return flight before I go there

Was able to get tickets booked for same return flight as mine and also shortened my stay in Manila without travel agency or airline penalties.

Their interview is October 21. I read somewhere on VJ that delivery of passport and visa is anywhere between 5 business days and within 2 weeks. I was counting on 5 days since our tickets are for return to U.S. on November 2!

Are the visas usually delivered sooner than 2 weeks and closer to 5 days....?

I'm aware of all the warnings about booking tickets before visa is in hand. I'm just looking for what others have experienced and averages.

Thanks for your assistance!

Another question just thought of: is pickup at USEM faster than home delivery by 2GO?

You just like begging for problems...

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

I agree you are just asking for problems booking a flight before the interview is not good. I book a flight before my wife had her visa but it was after she was approved and I book it for about a month after so my risk was minimum. I will never book a flight before the interview

To answer your question my wife visa took 5 days however I seen others wait longer

I would probably just call Asiana airline when I was ready and forget the hassle of going to their office, get the seats together and pay with a credit card....but I have only booked a few hundred flights or so, I could be wrong, simplicity is my friend

Looks like you are here to brow beat....

I asked two questions, neither of which you answer.

And, incidentally, from reading the forum, many visas are in hand in 5 days....

You can't pickup the visa at USEM. It must be delivered to MOA or the 2 go office in her hometown (or near her hometown) or to her home address.

I have known Hank for over 3 years. He has helped thousands through the visa journey here on VJ. So I take offense that you can think that he is brow beating you. He has seen other fail at just what you are trying to do. His recommendation is not mandatory and you can do as you please, but he is telling you something so that you don't make any mistakes and end up delayed any further.

His advice is my advice. You're better off waiting for the visa to be in your hands before you book and pay for her flight.

Nope, I only pointed out what the embassy stresses on their website and in the instructions letter. Which you ignored.

I didn't answer two questions you asked on this forum ? So. Your point is?

The point is moot since I've already purchased tickets. I do read widely on VJ and have taken many opinions into consideration.

Reading the forum there are various answers to my questions. The docs from USEM, is, as you point out, quite specific. However, a platinum user said "you should book it online as soon as possible". He had booked after approval of his fiancé ,which he did not say in this post, so may have thought I was in the same position although that cannot be inferred from my post.

So, apparently I made a decision based on another poster who said visa was in hand in 5 days in most cases.... I did refer to knowing the advice about not booking until visa is in hand....

My apologies for my unfounded accusation of brow beating. I'm just very concerned about the situation since I've read, as I said, various suggestions. I always hope for the best put prepare for other circumstances. I think I will be able to call Asiana in Manila to change our bookings if that is necessary.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

The reason i suggest to book asap was to insure you and your wife will have seats together. It makes no sense to fly on same airplane and not be able to sit together.

I will never recommend buying a ticket before interview. Since you already did and you did not seem to want to change your mind. Maybe you could not change the tickets I do not know. I just suggested that to insure your wife will have a seat next to you. Some flights do sell out if you wait to long

yes my wife got her visa in 5 days . However I will have to say the average is more closer to 10 days to 2 weeks
