Hello VJ member!

My Fiancé had his interview on 08/26/15 and Consular gave him a paper that said he was approved.

Until, now we have not receive the visa yet! Had anyone had a long wait, from Haiti on a K1 visa being issued? I send a email to the help desk and this is the last response I got from them.

Please be advised that some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after your interview with a consular officer. You will be advised of this possibility during your interview. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of your visa interview. When additional administrative processing is required, the length of processing time will vary based on the circumstances of each case. You are reminded to apply early for your visa, well in advance of your anticipated date of travel.

If the U.S. Embassy or Consulate requested additional information or documentation from you, you must submit those documents at a Port Au Prince Post document collection office.

Administrative processing is essentially terrorism checks mandated by the PATRIOT Act to ensure that potential immigrants aren't terrorists or have links to terrorism.

Unfortunately there is no upper limit on how long AP can take; in extreme cases where the beneficiary has a common muslim name and/or is from/has travelled to the MENA region it can take months or even years.

Did you create an account in the ustraveldocs website after the interview ? You wont receive your passport back until you select a DHL location for your passport address delivery

Check the top of your ceac.gov status. Does it say "Immigrant" or "Nonimmigrant"? Also, check your AA# using the NIV section of ceac.gov. What does that section say? Cases get put in AP when the visa is being printed too.

Your AP isn't the background check sort. Your AP is the sort where the visa is being printed. If they didn't put you in the 221(g) AP, your wait should be shorter. However, while the majority of cases that hit this stage go fast (some as fast as a few hours or days), I am seeing that some are slower. I seen another case that is in your AP for over a month! Yours might not last that long, though. You may want keep contacting the embassy on the progress.

I am stuck in 'Ready'. My next step should be the NIV AP. It's unbelievably frustrating.

Amhara,

You were right about my status changing to issued soon. Today the status change to issued. Thank you, God!

Now let see how long it takes to get the passport! I can't wait to see my fiancé!

I wish yours will be issued soon!

Good luck!

Thanks!?
