I just hate how the media can throw some false info out there and people eat it up like it's gospel.

I agree. I am just not sure if the author was using the racism angle to get attention or if the author is a dumb as a box of rocks. Could be either.

it's weird to me when folks that maintain government can't be trusted, choose to trust the government - while blaming government action on the media -who are merely reporting. or in this case, offering an op-ed. you know full well there are other op eds to counter this one. media is media.

At the end of the day if you want to vote in Alabama you have (at least) two places in every single county to get an ID that will enable you to do so. If you need someone to bring you a card, fill out your registration for you, and bus you to the polls then I would guess you really don't feel the need to vote nearly as badly as those who need you to click a key for them need you to vote

If only the state made it that difficult for people to get guns. Tells you where their priorities are. Screw democracy so long as you can lock and load.

SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

that's my final answer.

Are you kidding me? We need guns. How are you expected to hunt and forage for food, and protect yourself and your family in the primitive life conditions in America?!?!?! Guns! We need more guns!!!

Way out of proportion, those are locations that have hardly any business, keeping them open was costing money....Its quite simple to renew or test for a liscense, go to the nearest courthouse or State trooper office, need an ID to vote, those can be obtained at either location as well. There will be no one in the state that cannot get an ID. Making it a racial thing is only adding fuel to the fire, unless you live in one of those counties then you have no idea what the new process will be for getting an ID. I can assure you it wont be a huge ordeal

Does not matter to some people who simply want to make it a racial issue. Hate speech at its finest.

Eff the poor, Eff the blacks eh? That's pretty much what the State government has done.

Bravo, I say, Bravo!! Spoken like a person who has no idea what it is like to be black (or white, for that matter) in Alabama. Perhaps you should not try to tell those of us who actually LIVE in the US how to manage our own states and people. Sitting up high on your throne across the pond, it must be so easy to be judgmental. But once you look at the FACTS, not the media hype of one mis-informed author, it becomes clear that there is no ulterior motive, that the state is simply cutting out the waste where it can, and there is no targeted animosity towards ANY demographic.

Oil companies are firing folks daily. It sucks for the employees, but at the end of the day, it's all about the bottom line, survival of the company. States are no different.

pretty sure this is an immigration forum. if you can't handle discussing current events with people who don't happen to live here, perhaps you should learn to listen and appreciate the opinions and thoughts of others if you want to participate. this is exactly what folks are talking about when they say americans live in a protective bubble. anyone can understand the premise of the government enacting laws that require additional documentation to vote (or, lol, buy a gun) and subsequently taking methods of obtaining that documentation away from certain groups. it's pretty basic.

states are different. government is not supposed to be run by ceos.

Meddle elsewhere.

The person with whom some here are arguing is no longer a VJ member.
