Hello All,

We were nformed by the NVC that our physical application of the Fiance Visa case was received by the Embassy on September 29th, 2015 and that they have sent the instructions to the beneficiary.

Since the Packet 3 (Postmail) takes a lot of time, we decided to download the Packet 3 and on September 30th, 2015 email them the scanned copy of:

A) DS-160 form,

B) Packet 3 checklist,

C) Biographic pages of the passport.

We received an autoreply stating that they would respond back in 3 business days. Thus before i resend the email on Monday, we just wanted to check how long does it takes for Montreal Embassy to reply back with packet 4.

Looking forwards for your replies.

Kind regards,

ConiMoni

First, nothing is sent post mail to Montreal EVERYTHING, is done online, including inquiries. Packet 3 hard copy is basically the same thing as the pdf file, tells you to do everything online. My fiance also got a copy of our app and the domestic violence pamphlet.

You need to give them more time, it takes about a week for Montreal to log the cases after receiving them. If you did not receive a packet 4 e-mail from Montreal then they most likely haven't logged it and flat out ignored your email. They pretty much look up your case from the subject line, if it doesn't pop showing it's logged, they ignore it, if it shows it's logged, they proceed with packet 4.

My timeline for that is, they received our case July 7th, but didn't log it until the 16th. Any packet 3's we sent PRIOR to the 16th were ignored. We recieved packet 4 within 7 hours after it was logged. Either way, it took 9 days for them to log it after recieving.

Overall, give them til next Tuesday to log it. Send in an inquiry then to confirm they have it, once you know they have it, resend packet 3. The first one was most likely ignored and archived. http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

Hello Ash.1101,

Thank you for the quick reply.

The lady at the NVC informed us that the Montreal Embassy receoved the physical file on September 29th, 2015 and also send us the hard copy of packet 3 by Postmail. So i would assume they have already logged the case as our NVC case number of the CEAC website also show a new updated date of Sep 29 from Sep 23.

Based on their response, we donloaded the packet 3 checklist and send the 2 docs as instructed in packet 3 via email.

Another couple who sent the same reply received a response stating that their case has not yet been received. So i was bit concerned how come we didnt receive any response.

Kind regards,

ConiMoni

Sometimes they just ignored you. Back when we did it, I think we had three VJ's send their stuff out and all get ignored. We didn't even get a "sorry it's not logged", so maybe it was just a nice person who got assigned the e-mails that day.

The NVC doesn't do anything at the consulate level though for K1 and it's also basic info "once they recieve it they'll send further instructions and packet 3 via mail!", I got a letter from the NVC saying the same thing in the mail which was dated BEFORE MTL recieved it, but we didn't receive the packet 3 hard copy until 3 weeks after MTL had it, and a week after we had completed packet 4. It's most likely that they sent the case to MTL on the 23rd and they recieved it the 29th. They do not log the same day they recieve, it just gets noticed it's recieved, marked as READY in CEAC, and then thrown in a pile for logging.

you may want to send an inquiry in which they WILL answer at this link: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

If you want, you can just send the packet 3 again, there's no really any harm in doing so, the worst is they ignore it, the best is they send packet 4, or if you feel more comfy, send it after you recieve a response from the inquiry form. I think it takes a couple of days.
