Hello everyone!

First time poster, long time forum reader here. I intend to post about our story soon, but I am trying to compile all the documents needed before we file and I just had one question that I am a bit unsure of that I wanted to address before I really get started!

I tried the search function on the site and the most recent post regarding my question is back in 2011 and since things always change I thought I would ask again to try and get a more recent answer. If this has been answered more recently I am sorry! :o

When it comes to Question 34a I wanted to make sure my thought process on what to put is okay. I know I can do the addendum sheet (and probably will because I am way over thorough on things, just ask Jon), but we met while playing Final Fantasy XIV which is an MMO. I know this is different than the various chat websites and dating websites out there but I wanted to know if I can make a simple explanation that we met while in the same Free Company (Guild) as friends in Sep 2013 and eventually our relationship blossomed and we met in person the first time Feb 6th 2014 where we confirmed that we were just right for each other.

Would something like this suffice or like with the online chat/dating websites would I need to include a copy of FFXIV's terms and conditions pages to make sure they are aware that this is in no way a marriage broker? I realize this question is probably silly, but I just want to be 100% sure!

Thanks in advance for all answers and help!

P.S I will create a timeline once we actually start the process which we are waiting on a few things to fall in place first before we actually start to file!

The only thing you need to indicate on the I-129F is when, where and how did you meet IN PERSON within the last 2 years. There is no need to disclose that you met online. USCIS only cares that you have met in person within the last 2 years, and it asks you to explain that on the form. IF you had met on a website that would be considered an IMB, then yes of course you need to indicate that. But FF is not an IMB, and so you don't need to indicate it.

If you want to include a statement or timeline of how your relationship initially began online and how it has evolved since then, that is fine. However, that is a part of your relationship proof. Keep it with your chat logs, photos and other stuff that you will use to prove your relationship to the embassy.

I met my wife online, but when I submitted my petition I only wrote enough to fit in the box on the I-129F form: I met my fiancée [name] at NAIA airport in Manila, Philippines on Nov 3, 2013. We spent two weeks together.

I submitted a separate sheet of paper that I included in my relationship proof section of my petition, that just indicated a timeline and evolution of our relationship. In this I wrote how we initially met online, and I also described in detail the time we spent together.

Thanks so much for your quick response Zedayn!

The text I turned red in your post is initially what I thought, but I wanted to be absolutely sure. I will definitely do as you said and just make a short line of when we met in person and follow it up with my evidence a statement with all other visits we have had in person that way there is no question we have met in person within the last 2 years! Thankfully I have a tracker that I kept all the dates of our many small trips on so it should be easy to create the addendum sheet.

I work for a bank, so I try my best to remember dates since there are so many rules we have to follow with regard to dates and notifications being sent in specific amount of days lol.

Me and my Fiance met on an MMO as well. He mentioned it in the attachment. This is what ours looked like:

I, Fiances name (Petitioner) met Lindsay LastName (Beneficiary) online in May 2014 while playing a Major Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. We began talking more frequently and decided to begin a relationship on September 16, 2014. I booked a Greyhound bus and arrived in Canada on October 10, 2014, and met Lindsay for the first time in person at her school, name of my university. The following weekend was spent in hometown with Lindsay’s family for Thanksgiving dinner. I left on the Greyhound bus October 15, 2014, and returned to the United States on October 16, 2014.

Since then, Lindsay and I have met in person 5 more times, for a total of approximately 3 months:

Then we listed the dates that we've been with each other since. For example:

December 12-26, 2015: Lindsay visited me in Fiances town.

February 13-21, 2015: I visited Lindsay in Town, Ontario during her reading week.

And so on, until the most recent meeting.

We also had a little sentence after that that said "More detail can be found in the “Proof of Meeting Within the Past Two Years and Proof of Ongoing Relationship” section of this package" and explained the visits more in depth and included pictures.

We didn't include the terms of service and had no trouble at all. Hope that helps :)

Mykonos,

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I am most definitely bookmarking your post for future reference! You really put me at ease with my concern!!

Thanks again to you and Zedayn!

I tend to over think things and make them more difficult then they really need to be so both your posts were super helpful and I will make sure to follow your information!!

P.S. Jon and I found out, in the course of our relationship, that we both played SWTOR as well just on different servers. I really enjoyed playing it! So many hours of Huttball!!! I loved PVP until they nerfed it!

You might want to use the words "we became aquainted" playing the same internet game...etc and name it. Save the words "we met" to fulfill the petition requirement of meeting in person. Focus on evidence of being in the same country.

Also a UK tip in response to this posted to you "Keep it with your chat logs, photos and other stuff that you will use to prove your relationship to the embassy. " Interviews in London don't need evidence of your relationship or to prove anything of that sort.. It is a few casual questions and very easy. So don't worry about compiling chat logs, emails, photo albums, and such for his London interview. When it comes to the consulate and interview stage, each country has their own vibe.

Nich-Nick,

Thanks for the suggestions. What you said about becoming acquanted makes sense. I will make sure to review my wording and everything. Once I go to start the paperwork for us, would you mind reviewing my addendum sheet before I send it it? I can PM it to you if thats easiest for you. (Will be a few months off yet still, but am hopeful!)

I remember reading in the UK forum that London doesn't require a lot of evidence. I assume its a very low fraud country in the first place. This is good for Jon and I since taking pictures of us is like pulling teeth... we both hate having our pictures taken! We only have a few of us together and thats only because we knew that we should at least have a few from our trips to send.

Thanks again for all the great tips and help! It really is greatly appreciated!

(I also bookmarked the London K-1 Guide in the UK forum so that we have that for reference. I know you spent a lot of time making that and I would just like to say its awesome and very easy to follow!)
