Hello!

I have a question - i have DS 260 opened for filling and there`s a question if you ever applied for Social Security Card - you should put a number there. I was in the USA in 2005 on student visa J1 (Work and Travel Programm). I was given a SSC with a note Valid for work only with DHS authorization on my maden name.

I have heard that non-citizens can`t get a SSN and that paper I have is Tax Identity card for tax payers.1

Any ideas? Is that a real SSN? Or I sould ask for another SSN and card at my application?

I hear, a SSN once received, is valid forever. To my belief, you should use that old number in your notes. It's a real SSN and it can be obtained by non citizens as well.

I've noticed that, but I don't remember what the page used to say. Did that info change recently?

Yes, it did change recently.it used to say that it would take the NVC 30 days to review your docs, but as of lately it has changed to 2 to 4 weeks.I think that's great for all still waiting if they have now reduced the review time, however we all know that this is just an estimate.

Just a note that NVC and Embassies will observe the American Holiday on October 12th, which means no emails, phone calls, or case updates.

Hey! I filled DS260 yesterday and after I finished I saw COMPLETED at this line. But at the same time IV payment changed from PAID to IN PROCESS again))) I know I shouldn`t panic but still wonder if its OK?

Checked forums and usually people have problems with rejected payments but its not my case.... Just a couple calming words are needed, I`ve got nothing to worry about, right?

Hey! No, don't worry about it! I was reading last week here on the forum with someone having issues with the DS-260, if i'm not wrong which changed status all of a sudden. Then the person called and was told by the rep that it was a system glitch.

Today (Monday now, for me) they are closed, but you can give them a call on Tuesday and see what's up with that. But I wouldn't worry

A couple of days ago my ds260 for some reason changed from complete to incomplete for some reason. I was worrying a lot until the agent over the phone told me it was just a glitch of the website. Probably the same thing is happening with your page?...

I checked mine just now.. its the same with you "IN PROCESS" but if you click it on the next page it will say its PAID.. so probably a system glitch

Thank you a lot! Feel much better! And yes, I went to the page with receipts and printed all payment confirmations that money were paid ))) just in case it`ll be asked later at NVC to prove )))

Hi VJ'ers we are at NVC stage and going to pay the AOS fee, but my husband doesn't have the personal check, and we are thinking to pay it through money order. I have read the NVC guide that it might delay the process of our case if we pay by mail. My question is how long it would take for them to receive our AOS fee? And how long could be the delay? Thanks for the answer!

Hey! I think the best option is to pay online. If your husband has a credit card, just have him pay online, cause it's faster and safer.

I actually asked this on Friday because my husband did what was less stressful fir him and paid by money order for both iv and aos on Friday - he says he was in such a hurry he didn't read the part where it says there would be a delay. It's very safe because you're sending it registered mail with a tracking number...some would say paying online is less secure...but anyway others on vj have said they did a followup phone call and their case went to the next stage in a little over a week...if you can, pay online, if you can't do the registered mail and call after you've been notified it's arrived.

Hi. Y'all just need an account number and the bank's routing number to pay online. It can be a savings account, a personal cheque or a debit or credit card.
