VJs, we just received an email from NVC with a checklist attached. They are saying that they will forward the case to the embassy and that I should bring with me the documents missing. Does that mean my case is completed???

The other thing is: they checklisted us for missing the 2014 W-2, but then again hubby hasn't been working in the US since 2012, therefore no W-2s :/ What should we do? Is it possible that they just made a mistake/got confussed??

Yes, it's CC. Congrats! I received the same email regarding my Mom's case. Then I called NVC, and they said her case was complete. In a month her interview was scheduled.

Thank you!!! I will definitely call on Monday to double check :) What was the reason for the checklist, if I can ask? Did it make sense or it was like ours?

They wanted my tax transcripts, which were not available at the moment I was sending my Mom's IV and AoS paskage. And they are not even mandatory. The guide says "W-2, 1040 OR tax transcripts. But when we received the interview appointment email, it's specified checklist didn't contain tax transcripts. Weird....

After your CC I got the feeling that checklist is not quite realistic. It feels like they create it randomly, without looking.

That's exactly what we were thinking as well. Hubby read the email and he was confused about the reason... If it was because of the W-2, why they didn't ask for the other ones as well? AND, why would they want that since it is clearly stated in the documents that he left USA in 2012 and was living and working abroad this whole time... We did send the tax transcripts and tax returns so i'm not sure why this checklist. Will definitely call on Monday and maybe try and get a supervisor to explain me what should I do now. I don't want to go to the interview with this kind of checklist, when I know that hubby can't do anything to solve this. :/ So confused!

So I have read differing opinions, Is it better to immediately send off the AOS package and then wait until the IV fee is paid to send off the IV package or wait and send together?

It is up to you.

You are welcome to send the package as soon as you pay the AOS fee.

I personally waited until close to the time of reviewing my DS 261 so my case would be unlocked.

But whichever you decide, do send BOTh the AOS documents AND IV package together. In Two separate Manila envelopes, but together in one big envelope.

We used the i864 form while we are qualified for the i864EZ form.

Would that cause any problem ???

It depends.

Who is your sponsor?

is it a relative?

Is it you or your spouse?

If they are forwarding the case to the embassy, then yes, case is complete at nvc.

Bring the w-2 with you, or send it to your spouse to take to interview because whoever's tax returns you submitted, they need either the w-2, or 1099 as well. Bring For all three years just in case.

Gosh... I had no idea they have to be separated.... I sent them altogether. Just put cover sheets on each package.

But I believe, it's OK, for my Mom's package did not even have separate cover sheets, but her case was complete in 3 weeks.

As long as the cover sheet is on the aos docs and on the iv docs, it is fine.

It is simply my suggestion to put them in separate envelopes within the one package that is being sent for both the aos and iv packages, makes it just a little more organized.

Our Scan date was 3rd sept still no cc.

Been calling NVC daily. They said our review date was 28th Sept. What does that mean? Wouldn't our case be complete by now if that was the review date? Should I expect a checklist? They said they received another letter from us and our scan date was 24th. Argggh! :ranting: . We sent a copy of passport a day after we sent the other AOS package just to be sure and it took more than 20 days to get there? We have called several times begging them to ignore the last mail because it contained a doc already int he other package. They said they couldnt.

Basically we just lost 20 days!!

So frustrating!

That is really strange...I thought a review date meant you would get a decision from NVC, whether it be a checklist or CC! Our scan date is a bit before yours and still no CC either :( happy for people who get it quickly, but disheartened for those who are waiting 30+ days for just an initial review...doesn't seem fair!
