NOA1 to NOA2 Wait Times

I just received a text that my initial I-129f has been accepted at the Texas Service Center. (NOA-1)

I have been browsing different timelines and I have noticed a crazy difference in wait times for receiving the NOA-2.

There are some timelines that claim their i-129f was approved in as little as 2 weeks and others that say it took 6+ months.

Does anyone know the reason for this difference? I have noticed that applications processed at the California location on average have a much much shorter wait time, but how were they even filed their originally? When I put mine together there was no option other than the Texas lockbox. I realize some applications get transferred to Cali but some people have it listed as their original and that is kind of throwing me off.

Does what is all in your application matter as well? I am assuming that if you are applying for children to immigrate along with your fiance it will probably take longer or if you had to explain any legal issues or previous immigration applications but even so it doesn't really explain how different the wait times can be.

Is it basically just luck and timing?

There was a hold up for the texas servicecenter applications and they had to transfer a lot of applications to California to handle the pressure, hence the very different waiting times.

Hopefully they have fixed that hold up now

I realize there is literally nothing I can do at this point so this entire thread is basically me just trying to calm my nerves.

It looked like those people who were transferred to Cali really lucked out though compared to those who still went through the Texas center!

Yes Cali peeps are really lucky, only took me 16 days. But i wish you all the best and one can only hope

I submitted our petition on March 9. it is still at TSC. Today is day 206 for us. Sadly, USCIS does not adhere to what they claim as "First come, first served" I honestly hope you do not have to suffer like those of us still waiting that did not get sent to CSC or those who have waited(fellow March filers) and were approved in September.

Wow, I am very sorry to hear that. When I first saw that there were people who got their notice back in as little as 2 weeks and others that took more than 6 months I thought for sure someone had to have made a typo when filling out their timeline but I guess that really is how it works.

I'm an extremely impatient person and I worry a lot, so I can't image being in your position. My fiance can't move here until late this summer anyway, so we do have some wiggle room, it would just be a huge weight off my back if things were done quickly.

Again I am very sorry. It seems like a really unfair system and I am sending all of my hope and luck your way for you to receive word back soon!

Everyone who files sends their applications to Dallas. The lockbox is not a processing centre, it just happens to be in Texas.

From there, the application gets sent to either the California or Texas servicing centres.

On your NOA-1, it will tell you what service centre you're being sent to.

Please disregard my older post! I just received and email which had more detail letting me know that my application has in fact been rerouted to the California Service Center, which I am quite pleased with.
