The shooter said he felt insignificant and wanted to be known. The way mass shootings are treated here, he's about to get what he wanted. What's sad is, nothing will change and the cycle is only going to repeat itself.

Personally, I think it's because he's not one of the "blamable" type. I don't want him to be sensationalized either.

It looks like the Muslim angle was about to be played since someone said religion was brought into question, but it has dissipated as of this writing.

Killings have always been around. With social media and cameras on phones, it's not so hidden anymore.

I want to say Europe. Austria maybe? They had a few major suicides on a metro line and then suddenly the rate started increasing. They found that when they stopped reporting them as suicides, the death rate dropped precipitously.
