Anyone with experience of wait times for 'administrative processing'?

So my CEAC status changed today for the first time to AP.

It says "this process can take several weeks" but from the bits and pieces I've read online, I don't think I've heard it taking longer than a few days/couple of weeks?

can it take that long for IR-1 visas? coz maybe it takes longer for K visas and it's just covering the whole gamut in that text block?

any insights greatly needed/appreciated.

You should fill in your timeline so you can get better answers.

When was your interview?

Was you told at the interview your visa was approved?

Did you receive a 221g form?

ok, done that. Let me know if that's worked ok.

Please note, my case is unique, I didn't receive a 221g, I received a 212a that sort of turned into a 221g. I don't want to go into too much detail because I find that on forums people tend to focus on shaming tactics rather than helping, but the closest thing I can do to get an approximation is follow a 221g 'administrative processing' timeline.

Today marks 7 months since I've seen my wife so you'll forgive me if I'm clutching at straws a little. This is the single worst period of my entire life - no drama there, just fact.

Yours could change to issued by Friday or at least by Mon or Tues since the weekend is approaching.

They wouldn't have asked for your passport if they weren't going to issue your visa. The unknown wait is between your passport submission and somebody actually getting around to finishing your case. It is moving like any other case now which is two days + or - for just about everybody. If nothing by next Friday, then a reason to worry again.

really?? you think??

It's just that I've done a ton of googling for IR1 AP times and some people have been told a their interview that things are fine and then suddenly placed on AP and many months pass and they have to ask for their passport back in order to not be a prisoner of their own country. But many of cases are from high risk/threat countries or suspicious marriages.

But I've seen a case between USC and canadian spouse whereby the canadian's name was a common name, which flagged up as a similar/identical name in the immigration database or something, and they were still in AP after 9 months. Just because of a name conflict. So from what I gather, if anything comes up as slightly unusual, which sends you into AP, there's just absolutely no time limit.

With me, I had a 212a denial, which I had to turn around via the medical centre. So for all I know, someone might have thought "eh, why did this guy have a 212a denial?" and then, bam, AP purgatory.

So based on that, does my case still appear to be going along smoothly? it updated 3 times in 5 days while in the ready state a few days ago, the a couple of days later went into AP. Everything else at interview was fine.

Appreciate the response and any advice.

London cases: EVERYBODY goes from Ready>AP>Issued>email from courier

If you stay in AP past a week, then you have reason to think you you might have been put in the optional extra security checks you are reading about. In your case, I feel like they would have vetted all they intended to do prior to bothering to get your passport back. Now if your passport shows you have visited a Middle Eastern country between your interview and sending your passport, they might have to do security checks all over. That has happened to somebody posting in this UK forum.

For examples of times, browse this thread starting with Racheal http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/534020-uk-vjers-progress-update-thread/?p=7833488where she posts she is excited to advance to AP. Look at her detailed timeline. Browse backwards where many have chatted about their progression to AP and issued.

Visa got Issued today.

Just got back from my dad's funeral and found out, so weird timing. Had it arrived sooner I wouldn't have been here for the whole thing. Everyone in my family was predicting such serendipity.

Thank God this is over with!

Cheers everyone.
