To me it seems people would in time leave normally. Couples reunite, start their lifes, have children, move, work, its all bound to change. People that have made special friends, still have their special frineds. I made a special friend on here and they dont post much but i still talk to them most every day. How many of our friends from school do we still talk to every day, things and people change. These are grown couples with lifes they dont need the computer except maybe occasionaly just to drop in and see how everyone is doing if they wanted the friendships to continue they will out side of VJ.

I am sure there are members that move on in the way you describe; however, recently members have stated this is not why they have left but because other members have made the forum a place they could no longer enjoy.

And often they didnt see they to were part of the problem it has always been easier to blame someone else, as was explained before there is a ignore button and you dont have to interact with someone you dont get along with. I just find it hard to believe and adult couple starting a life will continue on as always. Friends are friends not just here and not just part time. If you leave because other people make it not so enjoyable then you "let" them do that to you.

Well looking back, JP offered to make peace many times and that wasn't received very well, was it? And when Ewok posted his warning, JP apologized for her role; others saw fit to make it look like Ewok was only acting on their behalf by thanking him as if his message didn't address them at all. This keeps coming up - the record is clear as to who owned up to having a role, who tried to bury the hatchet and who didn't.

ETA: JP is in touch with the friends she made. Unfortunately, she is no longer here to make new friends or to share her experience and knowledge about the process, as well as her insight about Arab culture. I always appreciated her insight.

Well maybe that pertains to you and your situation but others have stuck around and enjoyed theirselves in addition to helping out others. I for one will stay on once my husband gets here. Why should I take all of this advice from longtime members and not give back at all? That would be selfish. Unfortunately the ones who have left are the ones with the most to give in terms of visa advice relating to the middle east and north africa.

Yes, that's exactly the point.

We can go on all day discussing how people should just not let people get to them. The fact remains that we have lost some very valuable members. Members who would immediately come to the aid of anyone looking for visa advice, even if they were involved in controversy on the board. I'd rather have a board with people who got on my nerves but actually *knew* things than a board where everyone tells each other "congrats" and has nothing else to contribute.

I never mentioned anyones names and dont intend to because i dont know alot of what does go on. Just saying i think most married couple will in time drift away, and yes it is fun to come back on and yes i prob. will to sometimes. THe advice does have to be passed on and yes i do ask and yes i do answer those that i am to that point that i can. There are alot of congratulations, i think they are for real because we all know how that moment feels. As for being sorry, i do believe everyone is guilty and i have acknowledged that but also i know of times i wasnt and still got called out, some have never acknowledged that, but i wouldnt leave just because of something like that, i would just speak my mind and over look the ones i cared to not acknowledge. Those of you that have been here for a long time still have the knowledge to pass along then those will do the same, someone had to help you in the beginning, unless some of you were here from day one.

Those that have lived or traveled still can discuss the food, clothes, etc which those of us that havent like to hear about but not when it turns into a all out brawl, this is still a good place and will continue to be. And there are a few still here that still continue to come on and only mock people and do a smiley laugh, what are they contributing, nothing, but everyone just continues to ignore them, not leave. My papers are at Casa now and i do appreciate and thank everyone that has answered my questions and given me the help (F) seems there will be maybe 3 or 4 of us hitting there about the same time.

Oh and yes i do personally like the smiley dancers, its all in fun and hope the best for everyone whatever stage they are at.

Hey everyone. Gosh it's almost night time for most of you!

I think you are right Brndl. I know that while I am not one that has a lot of knowledge to contribute, I do like to be around, but life definitely changes when your SO is here. Several people have pretty much disappeared at least for a time while they adjust, and then come back to help and socialize as time allows. Still like you said, it's sad that the old timers who do understand the process are leaving. We need them to get through the rest of the journey and then for us to stick around and help the next batch.

I'm always avail via PM if someone has a question.

I do hope the people who stop visiting frequently at least come to give an update every once in a while. I definitely don't stop thinking of them when they stop posting.

A lot of help between posters goes on off this board. There are several people who pm me for visa assistance and personal matters, and I help them. No one but us may know who is helping whom out here in public, because no one announces it, but that's how a lot of us are doing things. As for people leaving, that's their choice. No one twisted their arms or held a gun to their heads. Frankly, if they're so unhappy here, it's best that they leave and take their bitterness with them.

Visa advice really isn't supposed to be going on behind the scenes in PM's. Any incorrect information cannot be corrected that way. When I receive a PM with questions, I direct the person to post on the board, and answer them there.

Also, questions/answers via PM are not recorded then for future reference. It's just VJ protocol.

Sorry Jen but I'm about to bump Thursday up :)

I plan on sticking around for awhile at least to help those out who are going through Cairo. It's such a frustrating embassy to deal with that I'd hate for ppl to go through it blind. Support is always needed to deal with them. I know I'm extremely grateful for all the support I've gotten here.
