Can someone please update my interview date to 2/27, I just realized that it still had the old one.

Does anyone know how do we go about the passport situation if we have a name change? Should I start with the application process already? I've heard it takes a while. Thanks!!!

You can't apply for a passport until you're a citizen (after your oath ceremony). However, when you know when your ceremony will be, you can request an appointment at a passport application receiving facility (some require appointments and some don't) for some time after your ceremony.

If you do a name change through the naturalization process, your naturalization certificate will have your new name on it, and that's the name that'll be on your passport.

You'll also get a name change certificate unless you are just taking your spouse's last name (in that case your marriage certificate will serve in place of a name change certificate).

Got my interview letter today ... the intv letter date is 02. 09. 16 and the interview date is 03. 18. 16. Please update. Thanks

I don't think I updated since my interview but I passed. I got scheduled for my oath on Feb 3rd and in true USCIS fashion I only received the letter today....for the ceremony that is taking place tomorrow at 8am...so much for advance notice. Hopefully i can come back tomorrow and let you all know I am a US citizen.

My interview was today, and I was approved!

It was scheduled for 1:45 PM (PT), and I arrived at the Santa Clara building 1 hour and 30 minutes earlier. We never know if the traffic is bad in this area. Better be early than later. I entered the building at 1:15, passed security, and at the reception, was told to wait until 1:30 to have my name in the system. The same thing was told to the person behind me. At 1:30 sharp I went to the receptionist again. she entered my name and alien number in the system and I was told to put my letter in a box at the "window 1".

After a little while (10 to 15 minutes) I was called and entered the room. I was told to raise my hand and swear to tell the truth. I did.

The officer asked about my full name, address, mailing address, my DOB and other things in the form N-400. She asked if I still married to the same person, I said yes.

The she asked the whole "no" and "yes" questions in the form.

After that, she told me to read "Who elects Congress?"

to write "People elect Congress"

and finally, asked the questions:

- Who is the Commander in Chief of the military?

- What is his political party? (she asked me this way)

- Name one state that borders Mexico.

- Who makes federal laws?

- Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

- Name 13 of the original states. (this way too)

She then revised my whole file ( a lot of pages), since my first interview in Rio de Janeiro, I believe. I saw our photos (my husband and me) that we sent a long ago, saw the copy of his drivers license, copy of income taxes... everything we sent.... After that, she marked "Congratulations" in the N-652 paper and said to me to wait for my Oath letter.

I'm so happy that this part is over!
