Had my interview this morning.

Interview was scheduled at 11:05 am. Walked in the lobby at 10:45 am and it took quiet a long time for security check. Handed my appointment letter at the reception desk at 10:57 am and was given a ticket number to be called.

I think I was called by a nice officer around 11:35 am (since I did wear watch and left cell phone in my car).

First, she swore me in before the interview starts, asked me to hand over my passport, green card and driver license.

Then, she said "there are two sections of the interview, I will go through/review your application form with you first, then we will move to the civic/history, reading and writing test".

We went through the application form. She mentioned that I had several trip of the U.S in the past 5 years. I said yes, and told her I had another trip after submitted N-400 application form. She wrote down the dates and calculated number of days and total days out of the U.S. She also checked my passport said "I don't see the stamps on you passport of the trips you went to Canada"; when I said "Would you like me to show you where the stamps are", then she said "I found them"...then she asked if I went to the Bahamas by cruise, I said yes and I didn't get stamps on my passport for the cruises I took to the Bahamas.

When we were reviewing Part 11 - 46. (Selective Services), she asked how old I was when I got my green card, and asked to see proof of Selective Registration. I handed her the paper, she just read it for a second and returned it to me. When we moved to part 11 - 49 "Are you willing to take the full Oath of Allegiance to the United States?" I answered yes...she asked me to give her an example...

She asked me to sign the application form, and a couple of papers for name change....Then reviewing application part was done....

I think it took 15 minutes or more to review the application form. After that, she said "ugh...lots of reading..." and started organizing all the paperwork and put them back to my fat brown "N-400" folder.

We then moved to the test...she had this 3-page pre-printed paper.

The first page has 10 civic/history questions:

1) What does the President's Cabinet do?

2) How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

3) Name one branch or part of the government.

4) We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?

5) What did the Declaration of Independence do?

6) If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

She wrote down my answers while I was answering those questions. She stopped after those 6 questions said to move to page 2 - reading test.

She circled a question and let me read " What country is in south of the U.S?"

Then she asked me to write on page 3 - "Mexico is in south of the United States"

She then said very good and she would recommend me for approval, and asked me to sign on the 2 passport style photos I submitted with N-400.

She mentioned that the average waiting time to get Oath ceremony letter is between 2 - 5 months since the Judicial ceremony will be held at the court house. I asked if I could travel aboard before Oath ceremony. She said absolutely but to mention those trips on the Oath letter questionnaire. She also said they will run another background check before Oath ceremony, and told me to stay out of troubles lol...If I get cited or any traffic tickets, I would need to bring paid receipt at the Oath.....She walked me out of her office and wished me to have a good day!

That was it....Please do not be nervous about your interview....I noticed most people in the waiting room were there for N-400 interview, and everybody walked out of the door with smiley face...

Now my waiting game begins! :crying:

If that is the wording in the message you received then you are not in line but actually have an interview scheduled Otherwise that message would read something like "On 01/12..We started the interview scheduling process for form (case) NBC*XXXXX..." !

Let us know when you get your interview notice in the mail! Good luck!

Well since it's been a month since we received notice that our interview was scheduled but we had not gotten anything in the mail, they finally resent us the notice via fax and our interview is next week on 1/20! The notice date on the top is 1/13/16, but that was because they reprinted it yesterday. Not sure what my real "original" notice date was.

Placed in line on your 5th green card anniversary. I wonder if that's just a coincidence or if it's intentional. A lot of people are placed in line 1 month before the anniversary. Who knows how USCIS works! :-)
