Any news about those from Egypt whom cases were completed on May?

I wonder whether they haven't had interview dates yet or that they are just not interested in updating their time line!!!

izabela-nv had case complete May 15 and her interview was September 11 and it wasn't an expedited case.

Hi BRlove,

I called NVC on Oct 19th, they gave me the good news that my case was completed on October 16th. (I was like ok Great!, i don't have to bother with writing emails to senators etc)

So, I kept calling every day, and they confirmed 2 times that my case was indeed closed, just waiting for interview.

Today I call again, and this time the rep tells me that my case is NOT officially complete yet!

I called an hour later, this time another rep, she put me on hold for a few minutes. I don't know if she went to see a supervisor during this time, which I think took about 2-4 minutes, or just put me on hold to research what she sees in the computer.

It does kind of sound like, as you have been saying, they are delaying case complete officially because there is some problem of receiving the USCIS documents and scanning them into the system.

After the hold, she said that they have received everything something electronic (not from me) and they will be scheduling next. When I asked so when is the case complete, she said, as of today.

I believe the case worker has probably a couple of days to schedule my interview for December, if they don't, I'll be pushed into the next batch :(

Hi canuk2usa,

That's great news! I hope this is a final CC. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but please call the NVC again tomorrow and confirm again. I'm saying this because they confirmed CC to me and to my husband in three different calls and it turned out it wasn't really complete.

From what I was told when I was trying to get my case sorted, it's not that they have a problem to receive the documents from the USCIS - they only create a case number when they receive all documents from them. The problem is that they have buckets of thousands of i-130s to be sorted out. Somehow this process works well for physical documents, but for scanning them for EP it does not.

Is the embassy in Canada backlogged? If not, you will probably get your interview soon. I got mine 3 working days after I got my CC. It's also a good time in the month, because I think the embassies are sending their available slots now.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

I have not seen too much conversation about this in this thread, but what are the suggestions for those who have to travel to a different country for their interview?

What is the suggested timeframe for those who have to travel to the country where their consulate interview is; how many days in advanced?

Also, what is the suggested timeframe to book the flight?

I personally would like to book my husband's flight as early as possible, although I have seen "don't book it until you are approved at interview"

But what have you done?

Hi,

My case doesn't exactly fit your question, but it has some similarities. I am Brazilian and filed in Brazil, but after I sent my i-130 the company I work for sent me to Turkey to work in a temporary assignment.

In my case, after I got the interview date, I tried to figure out the medical logistics. I decided to arrive 10 days before to make sure all exams would come out in time for the interview (I can get results for my exams in 24 hours, but my daughter needs a TB exam that takes 72 hours). That, and taking into consideration the official examiners are in different parts of the country, made me want to have a little time buffer in case something goes wrong.

I also got a return ticket with an open date because I have no idea when they'll release my passport. In my case, I need to go back to Turkey for work. I already told them I'm quitting because I want to be with my husband, but since they offered to transfer me to the US I should play nice :innocent:

Wow what's going on in with Jamaica embassy, I think i seen someone on the spread sheet from July still waiting and all of Aug, are they really that far behind,

Love11,

Its the same thing I am wondering...and not one brilliant mind to say, we need to come up with a plan to fix this, extra hours, more staff etc, to chip away at the excess. The worst thing is that it is not getting better :( Sometime I just imagine they will have a heart for Christmas and try to unite the families. Even if my case doesn't make it in that I know it will be less than the waiting time now.

No one knows what's going on but it's about a four month wait from CC to interview because they are "back logged".

But them can give interview date for visitors visa immediately.

Kamw its the same thing I'm wondering too. I don't get it,but I do...Visitor's visa fees are a big source of income so I'm guessing they put priority on getting as much of those in.. I kinda feel like we are to blame too..maybe we should be looking to make some noise at the US Ambassador to Jamaica level, similar to how people use their congressman here to get their processes moving. Squeeky wheel gets the oil.. we've been so patient and waiting quietly...if we don't speak up.. this is going to continue.

Alas, I don't think there is much that can be done. In one instance the US Embassy will send a correspondence to a congressman that " they wish they could expedite all cases", and in the next instance they will send a very terse correspondence to the petitioner and sometimes ignore a petitioner's e-mail.

They seem to be content to go at their own pace and I don't think much can be done to change that. They are given a lot of power and so it goes when humans have power over another human.

I was thinking maybe to have family members write on their Facebook page requesting interviews for December so we can be reunited with our family.

Well I have people all the way through July. I do have one May and they aren't answering their PM from me. so I will probably just delete them. No one has time for all that. ;)
