My husband has interview next month I received the p4 letter last night and am not understanding some of those codes especially the sudan police certificate part. ...my husband has never been outside his country and I don't get why they are asking for that police certificate. Can someone please help me understand those codes and what documents his suppose to take to embassy. Thanks. The attachment is the list of documents and the codes

The letter "F" means a document is NOT required. This is obviously a form letter from your embassy, and they expect some people to need the Sudan Police Certificate. But not YOUR husband. Don't worry!

Ideally, they decide at the interview and you walk out knowing you're approved.

Sometimes they ask you for something specific and tell you to submit it by a certain date, then after they review it, you get your approval. That happened to my husband and I when we did K1. At the interview we were asked to put together an organized compilation of at least ONE thing per every day that we had contact between us, starting with the day we first met each other on line. As that was nearly 2 years worth, we worked on that several hours per day for over a month. Once we turned that in and the consulate went over all that, she approved up.

I have a friend who was going through the K1 process at the same time. At the interview they were simply told there needed to be further administrative processing, but asked them for nothing. They had to get a congressman involved after several months of the consulate asking for no more information, and ignoring all inquiries. Finally after 6 months, they got their approval.

Curious what happened to the K1 visa than if you got approved?

See the F in front of the verbiage about the Sudan certificate. Read what F says. Nothing to worry about.

Is your husband from Sudan or put a address or employer or schooling in Sudan?

Look at the code than look at this list. If you submitted it to NVC it should have that its being sent to embassy.

You have to bring all originals to interview of all documents submitted. Everything.

Officially we havent received any checklist the rep said the review of our documents was completed on 16-09-15 and we will receive a checklist regarding my birth certificate and marriage certificate. Having said that he also said we will receive an assessment letter (I dont know what it is) he said you have to take the documents mentioned in assessment letter to the Embassy. Now i am wondering should i assume it as case complete or not as we havent received any checklist or assessment letter as of now. My wife talked with a rep on last Wednesday she said she will mail it to her instead of emailing as their systems has some problem going on but still having passed 4 days we havent received any thing in mail either :/

Curious what happened to the K1 visa than if you got approved?

My husband flew to the USA and we married a couple weeks later. We sent in the AOS package and payment and did the biometric appt. He was with me 4 months when there was a grave family emergency back home. He didn't have the AP yet, so there was a big drama from his family over him not coming. He was always the central solid rock of the family, always the one to deal with problems. It turned into a turmoil of arguments, fighting, tears and guilt trips. Next thing ya know, my husband was on a plane, flying back home without the AP. We almost broke up over the whole mess. We patched it up between us, but there was no way to patch up the fact that he couldn't come back without his AP. Anyone who thinks leaving the USA without a needed AP will not result in their visa being "abandoned, null and void" should have a chat with me! Our only solution was to start over from scratch with CR1,

What documents we have to take for Biometrics appointment. My biometrics appointment is in a different location then my CR1 interview location.

In the online form for taking biometrics appointment there is a place asking the mailing address. Is it my mailing address or passport pick-up location?

Thanks.

Chiming in for an update and a question. I got the p4 letters at 1:30 am this morning. My question is I had to ask for a new passport because baby got ahold of it and tore two pages (I know what some might be thinking but let me explain: they were in a locked drawer where I keep important stuff like bank statements and bills that I forgot to lock one day and... well... you imagine the rest) so... will this be a problem? Specially because the first passport issued included just my father's last name and my husband's and the new one will include my dad's, mom's and husband's as required by Guatemalan law.
