Applying for B1/B2 visa while waiting for K1 Approval? Mexico

I tried to google this question first but all I found was info on traveling, but nothing on applying. I'd assume it's the same answer for both but anyway, I wanted to make sure.

My fiance, a Mexican citizen, got her B1/B2 visa in 2014 and stayed with my family and I for that entire summer. She went back to mexico before her stay expired and everything was fine. However, she was still 17 when she attended the visa interview so the officer only issued the visa for a year and said that when she turned 18 she'd need to go back and renew her visa so at the moment her tourist visa is expired but we'd like for her to be able to come visit me while waiting on the K1 visa. My question isn't if she can visit, I know she can. My question is if there are any problems with applying for the B1/B2 while the k1 is being processed?

My fiancee applied and got her B1, while we waited for NOA2. But she had strong ties back in China. Daughter and good job. Don't hurt to try. Thats what my fiancee did.

Almost a month between getting pac 3 and sending it because we didn't plan to get married until early next year. Now we might just get married sooner :)

08/10/15 Interview

APPROVED !!!!

08/17/15 Visa

10/03/15 POE
