I have a question.

I just got a request for Evidence on Application Type: I485 (email). I should have the hard copy by Friday or early next week. I used my mom as the sponsor for my wife's application.She's well above the poverty line, but I'm imagining the only confirmation would possibly be to confirm her income. I included her latest tax return, but maybe they want tax returns.

I have a question though. Is there ever a case where they also ask for the applicant's spouse's financial information although you've used someone else as the sponsor in the original documentation?

11/13/15- Advanced Parole Card produced.

12/07/15- Received approval of EAD application.

12/09/15- EAD card mailed out.

01/06/16- Interview scheduled for March 10th

03/10/16- I-130 and I-485 approved. Green card in Production

06/13/21 - NOA + Biometrics reuse notification

04/20/22  N-400 Approved! Waiting for ceremony

Nevermind. This is for the I-485... not the I-864 so it's likely not financial related?

Did you submit an I-864 and associated financial documents for the primary sponsor - the spouse? This is required even if there is a joint sponsor.

I actually see a line that wasn't checked on my affidavit of support document. I'm looking at a copy and a line that should be checked that the sponsor is a U.S. citizen wasn't checked. Maybe that's it.


No. The financial documents were only for the "sole" sponsor which as my mom. So maybe they're requesting my financial documents.

Ok.

The spouse will always be the primary sponsor even if they made $0. Wait for the RFE to come but it is probably for your I-864 and supporting documents.

You, as the husband, will always be the sponsor whether you make the poverty guidelines or not, anyone else would be considered a joint sponsor. The sponsor and joint sponsor would need to submit separate forms and documents required.

The RFE could be for anything though.

21 Aug 2013: I-129F Sent

20 May 2014: Wedding!
