Filing I-751, what is "tax verification???" [merged threads]

My wife and I are getting our ROC together, things going well.

One thing has me "wondering".,.,,they ask for ""Tax Returns with 'verification' they were submitted to the tax jurisdiction'".,.,.,.,???

We have copies of 2013, 2014 tax returns, signed by me and my wife. Was prepared by CPA (same one for 20 years)..,.with his name and address.

Everything else, we have that the VJ and USCIS site advises, we have.

Just need some guidance, about ""Income Tax Verification??""

Send tax transcripts (which you can order for free from IRS.gov and arrive within a week or so). Signed tax returns are NOT proof that taxes were actually filed. Anyone can fill out and sign the forms without them actually being sent anywhere. Good luck!

I recently posted that I was ignorant enough to be ready to file ROC, with only ""copies"" of 2013 and 2014 tax returns. Gosh, I have so much to still learn after many years on this site.

The 4506 form says, that 50.00 per year needs to be sent..,.,.and the post I got a few hours ago says, "it is free."

But, the "on-line" version says the site is down.,.,.,

So do I mail the 4506 with a check for 100.00..,.,or something else.,.,.,.,.,THIS has been a ""BAD day"" in so many ways..,.,.,.,.

Just need my friends help.,.,.,.,

no, you do not have to pay. it's free. it is simpler to go to IRS.GOV and request the transcripts.

I called and requested the transcripts and they came in the mail in a week, they are free. You can also go to your local IRS office.

These are free from the IRS website. The online version where you can download the transcripts is down, but there is a button that says you can request by mail. All you need to provide is your SSN and birthdate and submit that form for EACH of the years you need. The copies will be mailed to your current address that the IRS has on file within 5-10 days.

I just received three envelopes from IRS containing the transcripts l needed. No charge.

Unless you are also asking for tax transcripts from your state? You have to check with your state's department of revenue about that - my state does not issue tax transcripts, only tax returns, and those two are completely different. My state charges $5 each year for the copy of the returns - which, thankfully I kept copies of them.

Use this link http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript- see button to get transcripts by mail. I have the Tax Return and Tax Account transcripts requested (two different types).

Is there a reason you need to use Form 4506? They can be used for certain, specific transcripts which you probably won't need on your case - see this link for guide http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Tax-Return-Transcript-Types-and-Ways-to-Order-Them- I don't think they charge for that, either.

What about verification of state taxes?  In MD they will only send you a copy of your tax return there is no transcript for the state of MD.  I have a e-file declaration from my tax preparer when he sent the taxes is that enough (form EL101)
