Hello,

I entered as a K-1 last Friday. On my I-94, my first name was entered incorrectly. I contacted a CBP Deferred Inspection site and they were able to fix it and now when I retrieve up my I-94, my first name appears to be correct. The officer that did my name change said in the email: "We corrected your first name in our non-public accessible data base, but this may not reflect the public data base you have access to." I assumed that was the SAVE database.

This morning I went into the SSA to apply for a SS card and the lady processing my application was able to find me in the database (which I'm assuming is SAVE), however my name change did not appear on their end - my incorrect name is still present. My question is, does it take a couple of days for a name change to cascade across diferent federal databases?

I contacted the CBP site that dealt with my name change, asked specifically if my name was updated in the SAVE-AVSI database, and the officer responded with: "The SSI may need to choose a different database to verify your information, I don't recognize the one you mentioned."

Should I contact SAVE.HELP@dhs.gov for help?

Thanks.

Hello, I'm in a similar situation too. Except my name was to long for the SSO because they used all my catholic names as first names. I have been trying to get my SSN for over two months now, it is so frustrating. I have my name changed on the I-94 now but I don't know if it is changed in the SAVE database.

How did you guys finally got it corrected?

I have 3 middle names (Dutch catholic...). They are in the system as middle names, not first names.

At the social security office they were unable to verify me in their system. The lady said it was because my name was too long, and she showed me how their system cuts my name off half way my third middle name. So they send my paperwork to homeland security to have it verified. That took a long 4 weeks but I got my ssc without a hitch. After marriage I went back to have my name changed. Again they could not verify me. Not even though my social security number. So everything went to verification again. That took another 3 weeks, but I got my name changed on the card without further trouble.

If it makes any difference, this was the SSA in New Albany Indiana.
