Hi,

what do u guys think of any business idea starting with 30000 dollar investment. I am coming in December. Its will be difficult for me to find job as i have done MBA from Pakistan and never done any job, Here i own a furniture Business. i need advice from you guys as i wanted to explore america first, wanted to improve my English, so i need maximum interaction, i wanna understand culture and values to make it my home country, First i need to understand market then gradually i will do what i am best now like furniture business, But i need to do something meanwhile which will give me normal income, once i will be confidence i will put money in the market. So i just wanted in the beginning normal income business meanwhile i will find opportunity for my future.

It will be good if i travel around the country i will love to see this great country, i have read history a lot from civil war to teddy Roosevelt, i discuss with my wife about america issues and she really impress. She is completing her under graduation, I will really appreciate if senior members helps me, they guide me what will be the best option.

First piece of advice: Never reveal how much money you have in your pocket.

Second piece of advice: Be skeptical of "business ventures" in the US. While I'm sure these exist all over the world, be very wary of people with "an amazing investment opportunity"!!! There are many people that make a living scamming others and 'business investments' are an easy way to take someone else's money legally.

Third piece of advice: Starting your own business in the US is very easy. You will need a lot of paperwork, keep financial books and correctly report your taxes. You might find flea markets have low overhead.

VJ might not be the best place to search for business advice. Put that money back in your pocket and listen more than you speak. But other than that, if you have enough seed money, you might find being self-employed is an awesome thing in the US!

Not sure exactly what entails your 'traveling the country', but I would think will very quickly be prohibitively expensive.

Perhaps your best bet is to invest in a Master's degree and find a job based on that.

$30k in NYC is not much.

I can see all of them going through one crazy thing, to buy you a decent car and work for Uber with it
you will not use all your money, will travel whenever you want and work there with your own car, you will interact a lot with the passengers so you can improve your english and know about their cultures.

But on the other hand, don’t except that much of income, you can just consider it as a temp job till you are on a solid ground.
