Could someone please reply with a short description of what exactly the I-864 package is? I know it is dealing with the AOS but will it come by mail? or email? and should I go ahead and call and ask about it? I have a very general idea what it is, just not where or when to look for it,

Thanks in advance,

You'll have to prepare the I-864 yourself, it won't come from anywhere. Once you pay the AOS bill, you can send the financial and civil documents. They will basically use this form and all supporting documents to ensure that you are financially capable of supporting your spouse and your spouse will not need government assistance once they arrive in the US.

The form is located at http://www.uscis.gov/i-864

Make sure to read the instructions and provide all supporting documents as listed in the instructions.

Here's another link that shows the step by step process at NVC and what you need to collect: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html

Also, make sure to send the I-864 package and the civil documents in one envelope to avoid delays.

The timelines are all based on when metric'd events/milestones happen. In this case it would be like NOA1, when USCIS confirmed receipt of YOUR package....not you receiving theirs.

Right, it's when NVC received your I-864 package. Some people send their packages via couriers that allow tracking so they update their timelines with when NVC received their I-864 package.
