Upcoming USCIS-required medical while my wife is pregnant...

Hello everyone,

I recently received an RFE stating that my wife must attend a medical appointment with a civil surgeon. She just recently became pregnant and we are NOT wanting the doctor to be pumping her up with all sorts of shots and x-rays when they would be otherwise unnecessary if not for USCIS-purposes.

We asked the receptionists if we could get waivers on many things in this case, but they only said we'd have to speak with the doctor.

Has anyone been in this situation before or know of any advice I should know for such circumstances?

The appointment is in one week, so please help me with this.

It depends on your embassy/consulate. But pregnancy is not usually deemed as a reason to not have these things done. Many vaccines are safe during pregnancy and X-ray carries a very small risk. This thread has some great information on it: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/559672-lung-x-rays-during-pregnancy

It hasn't anything to do with the embassies/consulates anymore. She has already immigrated here to America and she is awaiting her AOS approval. Does this make any difference?

I don't even want a very small risk, when there should be steps in place to avoid it entirely.

No, it hasn't expired.

She did a medical appointment in her home country prior to the interview for her K-1 visa. Yet now USCIS is telling us that she has to do the entire same medical all over again here in the United States. Which I don't even understand why they didn't just make the one in her home country valid to begin with.
