At infopass, they only tell you to wait for 120 days before making inquiries, everything is in normal processing time. Happens so often so no new here. Everything you can do is to wait for N-14 form in mail and to be patient.

Hello!

I wanted to share my experience and ask you for an advice. I went for my N400 interview a week ago. IO seemed concerned with age difference between me and my spouse, asked me all sort of questions ( the spouse where we live in, etc.) He asked if I have any pictures with my spouse on my phone ( BUT NEW APPLE update that morning crashed my phone - what a BAD luck - I told him that ).

Then He asked for utility bills, etc. Since interview letter asked for just tax transcripts - i brought them - for last 4 years filed jointly. He just copied W-2 from one of them. I told him unfortunately I did not bring but I have everything and we have join t accounts and I can even log in online and show. He said - you had to prove to us this marriage. Then I passed civics test and he said " we will need mpore documents from you ; basically all I've asked you about". I said - Yes, definitely,

Then I signed some forms that he gave me and then he gave N-652 with "test passed" and "written decision will be mailed".

My online status still says " Interview notice was sent".

I thought of just coming to USCIS office and dropping off all the documents I have.

Should I do that or should I wait for mentioned letter?

Please advise. I am in no rush, but me and my spouse were very excited for this and now = (

Has anybody had the same experience?

I am not being rude but why didn't you prepare for the interview. It took me days and careful planing to put together photos, bills and all kinds of different proof before the interview. Also it is very risky to come to an interview and to want to show pictures on the phone, most officers would not accept that and they would never accept you to log in and show them your bills. They need all of that on paper and kept for their records.

I really do hope that you get everything worked out and i am sure you will but wish you were much better prepared.

I came here by K1. for first 2 year green card and AOS I had no interviews whatsoever. Me and my spouse always lived together from day one so we had all the proof ( bills, pictures, family pictures, insurance, phone plans etc). So I just was looking what they need and send it to them and they never called me for any interview, just mailed the green card in both steps.

For the interview as I read on interview notice they asked for 3 years of tax OR other proof. So I thought that 4 years of tax would be enough and brought that. I am so so hard on myself that I didn;t bring utility bills etc. It would have taken me 5 minutes and could have saved all the hassle. I feel like a dumb ###.

I am not in a rus, but we planned to go for a trip maybe and with U.S. passport iit would have been easier and now we are just postponing it, so I feel bad that I make my spouse put life on hold = (.

So my question is - should I wait for a letter? Should I take all the most recent bills, pics, bank statements and drop them off in the office.

Officer told me what he is looking for and he also asked for all this. I told him I can log in online to everythin joint. He also asked for ORIGINALS of W-2. :Luckily I found those and he made copies. He asked for something recent with mailing address and I just picked up my dental bill from home so I showed him that since that is the only thing I had other than taxes. He said " we need more documents. We will mail you the letter, it will be self explanatory. No rush with documents. Thank you, bye"

And he checked " Passed the test" and " USCIS will notify you written decision"

Thank you all for listening to my story. Please advise.

Why would it be easier with a US passport? You will need a visa to Russia

  • Russia: Russian visa rules are quite strict and complicated, so you’ll need to have a solid itinerary set up before you apply as visas are valid for specific dates and not extendable. You’ll need a sponsorship for your visa, typically provided by your hotel or tour operator for a small fee, and you’ll register your visas once in the country. Fees start at $140 and applications should now be filled out online. Tourist visas are generally only valid for two weeks and even if you are just traveling through Russia, you’ll need a transit visa.

I am not planning to go to Russia...

Also Yes, I know I came unprepared. Unfortunately their checklist said " Bring taxes OR other proof"

So I brought taxes based on their checklist...but thanks, I know what I should have done. I wish I read this forum before. It doesn't help me now though, criticize of my past choice not needed.

And trust me - I spent a lot of time too. The fact that I didn't bring more than what they asked was the fail. We all spend time reviewing documents 10,000 times.

Without RFE letter, they will have no idea what it is for.

So I decided not to ask here but call USCIS

And tell them my concern. They told me to make an infopass and bring the documents the IO asked for.

Hey Duck ...my advice ...call USCIS ....try to connect to an agent ... I did this to get the exact date for N400 , when i filed for AR-11 ( Address change) ... i did manage to talk to an agent and he told me the date . Tell the agent in detail and see what can they find out ... you can do this before going for am infopass . Call 1 (800) 375-5283

So I called them yesterday and they told me that they advise I make an infopass and bring the documents he was asking for if i have them.

So I am going on October, 6.

I put in the folder:

1). Pictures

2). Copies of 4 years of tax returns

3). Our insurance cards copies

4). Printed from work my spouse being a beneficiary for me for 401k etc

5). Since IO asked about the car and commute I have receipts from work of 16 last months getting express bus pass to commute to work to prove I don't drive

6). Electric & Cable Bills for last 12 months with our both names on

7). Last year of joint phone bills ( family plan)\

8). Last 12 months of joint Household account bank statements

Do you think that would be sufficient?

Looks good duck373 .... i think you should carry the orginals too...you never know. Also i think 1 thing should go good for you ... 2-3 letters for recommendation from her family & friends ...that they know you for so long and you guys are happily married...tell them to include their address and names. Any other things like travel tickets, health club memebership etc etc would certainly help . Let me know if you need any help... Best wishes and keep us posted.
