Hi everybody,

Hope this is the right forum.

So I came to the usa 2 weeks ago on a K-1 visa. We are going to get married next week and later on do the AOS business.

My female fiance which is the US citizen wants to change her last name to my last name. So while getting married and getting the marriage certificate, she will put her new last name right? And after we get married, she will put her new last name in I-864 right? and I will put her new last name in i-485 and g-325a right?

Well, as you may know, I need to attach a copy of our approved I-129F to the AOS package as well. So her last name in I-129F and other forms mentioned above will have different last names. Is this going to be problem?

I mean when we got approval of I-129F, she had her maiden name, while now she has her new last name and that last name is going to be in our marriage license and other forms.

Any idea would be appreciated.

Yes, if she will change her name through marriage, then she can go ahead and use the name from now on. The copy of your marriage certificate that you submit with the I-485 paperwork is your legal name change document. It is fine that her maiden name is on the I-129F petition approval. They will know you were not married then and are now.
