Processing happens on the day or several months?

Hi there

I received notice on the 25th of August that our form I-129F was recieved at Texas. I was then a few days after told our I-129F had been moved from Texas to California Service Centre.

The processing times are now at roughly 31st of August, should have I received notice now that the processing times are past our date or does that just mean that it could be in process and I would hear something in the coming months?

Not sure if the processing dates means it would be processed on the day or if it just means its started the process and it takes some time to do. Should have I heard anything more than them receiving our form?

I am also waiting to hear anything from them..I received my NOA1 last March 18,2015 and wondering how long I have to wait for the next notice.

I'm a little confused. You definitely sent your petition to the Dallas Lockbox (which is different from the Texas Service Center). The Lockbox's job is to route incoming petitions to the correct service center. Since late March, pretty much 100% of petitions were being routed right to California. We've been watching for this to change, though so maybe you have a piece of the puzzle? Were you ever notified that you were routed to Texas Service Center or were you routed right to CSC from the Lockbox? If your receipt number begins with SRC, you were first at Texas. WAC, California.

If you are at California, you should be processed in 2 months or less. The posted processing times (and that is USCIS approval) here are averages. Averages are just that--average. Half of people will be faster and half slower. They don't process in a strict date order, and even if they did, some petitions just will take longer than others. There's about a month or so swing in either direction. Either way, though, it is highly unlikely that you'll be there too much longer.

I'm assuming you're at Texas Service Center. Bad news is you (and I and many others) applied when there was a 6+ month long line ahead of us and the wait times were insane. Good news is that you're right at "average" for TSC and should be hearing sooner than later. Not a problem--this is a very common source of confusion. I just like to clear things up so that we can get a picture of what's happening, but also so that while you're here and maybe giving other newbies advice, you'll have a clear picture too

So yes, your next step is to either get NOA2 or maybe a Request For Evidence (RFE), if there is anything lacking in your petition. You're in a good spot being at CSC-- USCIS's move to close TSC to new petitions really, really helped everyone who applied after March 27. You are all but guaranteed to be approved much faster than the 5 month "goal" (the amount of time that they are held to before needing to report delays and backlogs), probably in less than half that time.

Some folks, yes, will get through in 2 weeks or less (4 days, I saw once). But for the most part, everyone will be within about a month to two months. This is lightening speed for anything immigration-related. You'll be through this before you know it
