Out of interest has anyone had any luck with Auto Loans? I went to car dealer but couldnt get finance myself. I could get my wife as a co signer but would have a high interest rate. Now i have a credit score and starting my job soon.

Anyone knnow when would be good to try apply on my own to get a decent interest rate? Give the credit score a few months to build up?

Yep, that's it. No credit score = no loan on decent terms. Give it 3-6 months and keep checking. Right now (I have been here for a month, applied for a secured cc and been added as an authorized user on my husband's card) - I can't even be found in the records of the credit checking services. Supposedly these are only updated monthly.

Same. Been here 3 months, got my secured and on my wifes CC. I opened a credit Karma account a few weeks back, had to send them some ID but I now have a credit score and I keep checking it. Credit Karma is great, tells u everything to improve it,

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I have limited funds to put down immediately. Thats why i was going for 1.5 down and the rest as a loan through the dealer.

I heard going direct to a bank will be highest interest

Not necessarily. You gotta compare. Banks won't give you the 0% financing deals some dealers can get for you, but without a decent credit score, you do not qualify for them anyway. Check a couple banks.

I was speaking solely of using cash as collateral at a bank on a secured loan.

This builds yer credit history, and on your credit history report, it shows up as a regular loan.
