My son was born in Vietnam and he's a USC. What kind of paperworks does he need to flight out of Vietnam with his mother? The travel agency said that he needs a Vietnamese passport if the nationality on his birth certificate is Viet Nam

If you plan for the child to come back and visit then having a VN passport will eliminate the need for a visa.

Leaving with a US passport shouldn't need anything else.

Anh Map per usual seems on the money.

Not sure your specifics, you mentioned he was a USC, but just in case relevant, maybe check out the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nguyen_v._INS https://goo.gl/qNHZe1.

My wife's due date is March 18 and hopefully we can get the interview and leave before she cannot fly.

Best of luck to you.

He got a US passport already. I just contacted the consulate. They said that he will need a Vietnamese passport or an exit visa to exit Vietnam.

I talked to my wife and you will need to go to the local "Phuong" or Ward and add the babies name to the house papers which is done in a day or 2 and then you can get the Vietnamese passport which should take 1 - 2 weeks.

Good Luck
