My husband received his K-1 visa and we were married March 1 of this year. We submitted the I-485 paperwork for his adjustment of status, as well as I-765 application for employment authorization, and I-512 for advance parole.

The Employment and Advance Parole were approved, with an expiration in June, 2016.

We are preparing to travel to visit his family in Guatemala and Belize, but before doing so, I wanted to see whether anyone who'd previously had a K-1 visa has travelled out of country and returned on advance parole. What should we expect? We'll take originals and copies of everything (advance parole approval, passports, marriage license, etc), but I'm more just anxious about what to expect coming back.

Any advice or things I should consider?

Thanks to all!

A boring trip to secondary on the way back, sit around for a while, and then sent on your way.

Hey there! We just recently did a trip to the Philippines (March 2015). All you need to bring with you is:

1. Your passport.

2. Your original marriage certificate.

3. Your EAD/AP Combo Card (or AP Papers).

We had no issues going to and from the Philippines. The only "obstacles," if you could call them that were the added security checks when leaving the Philippines and entering the USA. This is where you will need your original marriage certificate to assist in the security check for your EAD/AP combo card.

Some VJers may tell you the marriage certificate is not necessary, and the EAD/AP card is enough, but the marriage certificate was requested by both Manila and US airport I.O.s.

Also, at Point of entry in the USA (JFK airport in New York), my wife was taken into secondary to check her AP status. It was a quick 15 min interview, and I was not allowed in with her.
