My US citizen son applied for sponsoring his brother's GC who received a prioroty date of 21 JULY 2006 in a letter mailed to him in June 2009. Since then, this latter son has moved to a new address, gotten married and had a child - address change was duely reported and spouse and child timely added to his GC app.

However, on checking his case status today at egov.uscis.gov, we see:

Case Was Received At My Local Office
On March 27, 2009, we received your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number XXXYYYZZZ, at your local office. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange (https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do) to give us your new mailing address.

I'm not sure where they get the March 2009 date from but does this mean that he's lost his July 2006 priorty date and bumped further back to a March 2009 date or worse yet, the case is no longer entiteled to an immigrant visa?

Thank you.

I think it's best to have your son call USCIS directly and confirm. It's much easier to get a hold of them and it's not a long wait.

When did your USC son file? In July 2006? I don't know why the receipt notice would come in 3 years later. Are you sure it's a receipt notice and not an approval notice?
