Hello VJ's,

My K1 visa was approved last January 2015. Currently I am now in the USA living happily with my husband. I just got my GC few weeks ago. Now We would like to apply for a K2 and get my daugther who was left in the Philippines. We have few questions as follows:

Do we need to have a separate application or just apply for a visa at the consulate since i was K1.

Does she need to have full medical at st lukes hospital? She just turn 13 last week.

Do she need to have a visa interview? If not, how do we send the passport for visa stamp?

What step by step procedure for a K2 when done later after parent K1 already in the USA.

Please send me your experience in the past. Your response is highly appreciated.

Thank You so much in advance.

Hello Kumar1,

Yes our daugther was listed on the i-129f. During my interview the officer ask me if we are bringing my daugther and i said they will follow because i need to settle first in the US. We now need guide for k2 application before 1 year expiration. Thanks

Does she need to have full medical at st lukes hospital? She just turn 13 last week. Yes

Do she need to have a visa interview? Yes If not, how do we send the passport for visa stamp? Contact the Embassy and ask.. I assume from your question that she is listed on your passport and doesn't have one of her own?

What step by step procedure for a K2 when done later after parent K1 already in the USA. You file for her AOS. Include a copy of your 485 application so you pay the reduced rate for the child.

Please send me your experience in the past. Your response is highly appreciated.

Thank You so much in advance.

As long as your child was listed on the I-129F you need only complete the visa application process at the embassy, following the same process as you completed (a few items are age specific). The K-2 visa must be ISSUED within a year of the ISSUED date of the K-1 visa, so start early enough to make sure you stay within that time frame.

Follow the embassy instructions letter for what is required. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Pay the visa fee. Schedule the interview. Complete the Medical. Attend the interview and be approved. ;)

Of course, don't forget CFO, attendance is age specific.
