Ask your fiance to follow up with Ministry of Interior / foreign affairs in Islamabad all visas issues from their with Ministry approvals Pakistan embassy in US are not authorized to issue any visa for US citizens plus all US visas issues from US state department approval as well its all depends on your safety and political situation in Pakistan since your going to see fiance that' does not important for Pakistan officials. Ask your Fiance to use some resource and get your visa......

I have been waiting 6 weeks to get a tourist visa to visit my fiance in Pakistan. I was wondering how long this is going to take.

The last time I tried was before my now husband got his visa issued. They were taking forever my bad was that I had bought the ticket. I called them almost every day and they were very rude, my husband even called them trying to explain I had a ticket for such date and they were rude to him as well and it was the Washington, DC office. At last I got so angry and frustrated that I told them to send me back my passport. I lost my ticket and also lost the visa money, but thankfully for us he got his visa issued the next month. I perfectly understand you it is very, very frustrating. Have you tried calling them?

How can they issue a visa in one or two days, then take 6 weeks for one in the mail? I am soooo over immigration. I applied for tourist, not visitor, BTW. I will call today. Have called once several weeks ago, and yes, he was not a very nice person. Sadly, they hold all the power, and they know it. I suppose I should have driven to DC, but something tells me it would be the same in person there. I am supposed to leave on Saturday, but haven't gotten a ticket yet. Already lost one ticket this summer through this #######.

Try calling and explain to him you are scheduled to fly Saturday, and the website does say it takes between 4 and 6 weeks, so it has been 6 weeks already. Yes, they do and it makes it more frustrating! I really hope you get it before Saturday I know a long distance relationship is already hard and then on top of that dealing with immigration does not make things any easier.

I told him the last time I called that I was supposed to leave last Saturday. He didn't give a rat's butt. He said don't make the flight before you get the visa. And he basically said, "Don't call us, we'll call you." I'll try again today, but they appear to have no sympathy whatsoever. We will get married when/if I get there, and hopefully won't have this problem again because my fiance says as his wife, I can get a two-year visa without all this hassle. Then we will file our CR1. I appreciate all of your advice!!

I know he treated me the same way... Good Luck!! But I believe the website says we can have a 5 year visa once married. I am planning to apply for mine soon, I will let you know how that went.

Every time I've applied for a visa ( which was twice from the USA and twice for an extension in Pakistan) I was approved. It only took me like 12 days from the Pakistan embassy in Washington DC. One visa was from before marriage when my now husband was my fiancé and the second was after marriage.

I lived in Pakistan for 2 years with my husband so in just applied for yearly extensions there in Islamabad. When I would submit the application for a visa to Washington, D.C. I included a letter my husband wrote explaining that I would stay with him and his family etc, his passport copy, his ID card copy, my Islamic certificate we got from a mosque when I converted. That might have helped with the decision.

Have you tried calling the Pakistan embassy? I know one time I had to call and it took forever to finally get them to answer the phone. But they do answer questions and can tell you the status of your visa and what's going on. I also know that the visa application says 4-6 weeks but with mine it never took over 2 weeks.

I don't know why it is taking this long. I could be because I'm a single woman wanting a tourist visa. My fiance owns a tour guide company and has traveled extensively, so maybe they don't trust us. It's really sad because he is so honest, and I'm just an old school teacher...lol. I did see on here that the embassy there in Islamabad is backed up and canceled some of the interviews, so maybe that has something to do with it. I am hoping if they were going to turn me down, they would have already told me that, but who knows??? I also think that with all the various immigration messes going on in Europe and all over the world, it is getting harder and harder to get any kind of visa.

I believe the Islamabad embassy cancelled last week appointments because of the recent holiday. I highly doubt it was because they were backed up because they are always backed up.

We have been trying to get married for more than a year. We have met in another country for almost 3 years, but had paperwork issues there. And we didn't decide to get married til this past year. It makes me sad to think that we should have maybe filed a k1 at least a year ago, but I was afraid it would be turned down and we would end up starting all over with a CR1 anyway. Now it seems we can't get anything to work out.
