Well...good luck on getting everything started and welcome to VJ!!

First of all, Affidavit of support is only actually started AFTER you get your NOA2 which could be (and probably would be) months after you first start filing for the I-129F. So while I am definitely not saying it is too early to be thinking about it, you have lots of other steps to go through before you get there. As for the actually figure of what you need to earn for a two person family, I believe it is something around 16,000 USD a year -BUT this is only taking the figure out of my head and if I recall correctly someone posted the new figures for 2007 only yesterday so the link should not be too hard to find. As for who can sponsor you, I believe that anyone can as long as they fill in the appropriate documents and sign a written statement that states that they understand the obligations and are willing to still sponsor your fiancee. Basically, if your fiancee has to go on federal aid anytime in the first 10 years he or she is in the US then your sponsor could be responsible for paying the government back their money. That's how I understood it anyway. So, as far as I know, anyone can be your sponsor as long as they willingly accept the conditions. (If this is wrong guys please correct me!).

As for the other questions, I have no idea...so I'll leave it at that!

Good luck!

If your income is below the poverty guidelines, then you will be required to have a co-sponsor. That co-sponsor can be anyone that is a U.S. citizen, lives in the U.S., and is willing to accept the obligations of co-sponsoring an immigrant.

The co-sponsor's obligations are in effect until the person sponsored either: dies, becomes a U.S. citizen (which they can do three years after becoming a Permanent Resident), leaves the U.S. permanently or earns 40 quarters of work. The obligations are still in effect, even if the person sponsored remarries. So, it is quite an obligation to ask of someone.

Good luck.
