Can anyone tell us a country where a USA and Pakistani citizen can get married within a short time? It has to be somewhere a Pakistani citizen doesn't need a visa, if there is such a place. And not a long waiting time while there. Thanks for any help!

Seychelles, but it's a bit expensive. Just wondering, and you don't have to answer, why can't they get married in pakistan (I came for my wedding and I am not pakistani at all) or meet somewhere like dubai and file for a K1 and get married in the us.

I have applied for a Pakistan visa and have gotten no word. It has been 6 weeks and my vacation time is coming up next week. We are just looking in case the visa is denied. We do have plans to get married in Pakistan, but just looking for an alternative in case I am denied the visa. I read on here where some people are denied visas to go there. We don't want to do a K1, be denied, then turn around and have to do a CR1.

you can get a marriage proxy from usa . that is what we did. my husband is from united arab emirates and i am from usa. we tried to get married in uae but they told us that we could not get married on my visit visa that i had to be a resident. so we got a proxy marriage legal and registered in the usa and around the world. you can always have a wedding ceramony after you are married and in same country. here is the web cite http://www.proxy-marriage.com/

the lawyer that handled my proxy marriage was named Damien he handled everything and now i am living in united arab emirates for 3 years now together. we have interview at the embassy october 15 2015 to get his visa for usa.

Thanks for the ideas. We looked at that list, but it's pretty complicated as to how long you have to wait, translations, etc., in each country. It's so dang easy here to get married. Does anybody have any idea of the usual time a person (female) usually has to wait to get a visa for Pakistan? Even after being involved with immigration stuff the past 9 years, I never thought about how crummy Americans would also be treated by some countries.

FWIW, the success rate for spousal visas based on proxy marriages on Visa Journey is close to zero. Lots of stress, waiting, and heart ache. Based on what I've read here on VJ over many years I would suggest this as a last option.

As mentioned previously if your intention is to be married and live together outside the US for a period of time prior to immigration it is different. Living together as a married couple is far more important than where or how (as long as it is a recognized legal marriage) you are married.

Yes, I totally agree. I am just hoping to get that visa this week so that we can go ahead and get married in Pakistan. We were meeting in an eastern European country for the past 2.5 years, but with all the migrant stuff going on now, he can't extend his visa there at this time. This will be our sixth meeting. We tried to get married in the eastern European country, but we didn't have the exact paperwork with us at that time. We were friends for several years before deciding to get married, but have known each other almost 5 years now. So now that we are really wanting to get married and begin our CR1, we are running into all kinds of obstacles. We dealt with visa issues all summer as his visa was not renewed, and they didn't tell him until the day before it expired. Then it was too late for me to get a Pak visa as I had to return to my teaching job. So we sat waiting all summer trying to get together, which never happened. So now we have another delay as I sit here waiting again, without being able to get a plane ticket and vacation beginning next Saturday....grrrrrr I hate all this!!! BTW, I have another year and a half until I can retire.

you can always have a wedding ceramony after you are married and in same country. here is the web cite http://www.proxy-marriage.com/sa.

Just FYI, this site does not appear to be completely accurate. It says,"Proxy marriages solemnized in Colorado, Texas, Montana, Kansas, and California are recognized as being legally-valid throughout the United States of America as well as the entire rest of the world."

Texas no longer recognizes proxy marriages for non-active duty military members. Anyone should research their state's laws as Texas changed this law only last year to stop a growing trend in penitentiary frauds.

I'm so excited to report that yesterday I got my visa to visit Pakistan and will be leaving Saturday morning for a 3-week visit. We hope to get married, and then file our CR1 as soon as I get back.
