Hi Everyone,

Me and my spouse had our case complete on March 31, 2015. My wife is in Iran and is the beneficiary for the CR1 visa. We are waiting to receive an interview for the embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

I've called monthly (sometimes twice a month) ever since our case complete date, and I always hear the same answer:

"We will email you when your interview date has been set."

Contacting the embassy didn't do anything either, since they said that they don't receive the case until an interview date has been scheduled.

The more time passes the less hopeful me and my wife become. Is waiting really the only thing we can do, or is there any other form of action that I can take to help speed up the process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying your case has been stuck as NVC since March?

You are a USC right, not a greencard holder?

It would help in answering your questions if you filed in your timeline.

Something is very wrong. There have been CR1/IR1 cases for Turkey with CC up to 7/14 getting interviews. They just finished up for October.

There's a few of us on here that have been stuck at NVC for a VERY long time. :(

So you contacted the embassy and they said they can't help because your case is still with NVC, right?! That's actually good news for you because that means you can involve your Senator. They usually won't get involved once the case has reached an embassy, I guess cause then it's abroad or something?! Anyway, contact your state's Senator asap. Most of them will have a team that helps their state's residents in dealing with federal agencies, such as NVC. We've been stuck at supervisor review for, I think it's closing in on 100 days now, and my husband requested help from Texas Senator Cornyn. Our case has now been moved from the supervisor to a team that specifically deals with cases where a US Senator has gotten involved.

You, the USC, need to fill out an information release form to your Senator's office, which means that they're allowed to contact NVC on your behalf. And then you give some background on your case and why you need the Senator's help. I can't tell you personally if it helps or not, but I've heard others say that their case got moving again after their Senator got involved.

Hope we both get out of this NVC hell soon.

Thank you so much for your reply. Now that I think about it, I have never asked NVC to have my case reviewed by one of their supervisors. Would you suggest I do that first, or just go ahead and contact my state Senator?

Nooooooooooooooooo, don't ask for supervisor review. If you're lucky, it'll be done within 45 days. If you're unlucky, like some of us have been, supervisor review can run for months. You've already waited way to long so if I were you, I'd go straight to contacting the Senator.
