Divorce Certificate - Visa Interview

Hi Guys,

Quick question.

When at my visa interview do I need my Fiancee's (petitioners) divorce certificate? I have never been married, however she has.

It's my interview, I am the alien. Not her. She is the US citizen.

and NVC did not ask for this?

should have had to show this in the application process

get an original from her / they may never ask but if it shows up on computer that she was married, they will bring it up

BTW divorces from some states are not in computers / but marriages are / states finally got the system up that registers all marriages with Lousiana being the last state to connect to the system

Oh yes we sent it to UCIS so they had it first, it's just whether i need a copy for for the interview. I guess your right, it doesn't hurt to get another copy just in case.

You won't need it, you sent it to NVC it will be in your folder, you will get a list of the originals you need to provide

I was not told I needed my fiance´s divorce decree at the interview (only mine), and then we were asked for it. Better take it, to be on the safe side.

It is not your document, so they will not ask for it from you.

We were given the denial paper and had to send it in. Once they received it, the visa was processed with no problems. And because it was an original, they returned it to me.

Now this was the Paris embassy. Don't forget different embassies have different procedures. But in my case, they gave me a list of documents I was to bring to the interview, my fiance's divorce papers were NOT on that list and they still asked for it.

Please bring a certified or original divorce decree and marriage license if change of name proof is needed to the interview. Many blessings. I am the petitioner and my Fiancé already has my divorce decree.

London Interview:

Nothing from US fiance except her I-134 affidavit of support and proof of income. The rest is all about you.

Take to London the following of your documents.

Appointment letter

DS-160 confirmation

Passport: must have at least eight months validity left

Birth Certificate: must list parents' names.

Adoption Certificate: If applicable

Name Change Deed Poll: If applicable

Divorce Decree or Death Certificate: If previously married

Police Certificate (and Subject Access Report if it says "no live trace")

Court and Prison Records: If applicable

Military Records: If applicable

Photographs: one US passport style

Evidence of Support (Affidavit of Support): I-134 and one proof of income from USC

Translations: All documents not in English

New letter of intent from USC if petition has expired

Visa Fees: receipt from paying online
