I think many of us do not like bullies and do not want them to miss their karma.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

why don't you, in your own words, just say exactly what you want to say?

I did. And you deflected, as opposed to answering. But that in and of itself, is answer enough. My advice is to stop trying to badger others into "caring" for someone when they are expressing their opinions on how a particular matter was handled. If you want to climb upon a high horse, make sure you can ride first.

There's nothing to deflect. Showing basic empathy to other human beings doesn't require anything tangible or material on the part of people in this forum to prove anything. It's all sentiment and as far as that sentiment goes it seems that many of the people here woukd rather identify with a guns and ammo company rather than a bereaved family who may have made a poor decision arising from their personal tragedy.

Why would you expect a person to "care" about another or others that he/she has exactly zero knowledge of? It is not human nature to care for others you don't even know, just as you don't; if you DID care about them, you would have done something for them by now.

Have you? Done anything for them, I mean?

I actually think that a person caring for people they don't know is one of the defining characteristics of humanity in relation to the rest of the animal kingdom.

No decent lawyer would have got involved in this case.

Obviously lots of unscrupulous lawyers out there, but even they would not have touched this with a barge pole on a contingent basis.

The ONLY reason this happened is political and the Brady Campaign funding the action.

As has been repeatedly said they were shafted good and proper by the Brady Campaign who then left them to hang.

I would agree that most of us would empathize with others in a time of misery, hardship, or turmoil. But I also find it rather petty to try and turn select poster's comments into something less worthy by trying to make it appear that they don't "care" for perfect strangers.

Just as it is obvious that YOU don't care about he family, as well. I guess that makes at least one thing we can all agree on!

Pawns worth sacrificing for the greater cause.

I don't care because you say so? Whatever.

I don't need to make it appear that way. It's pretty much what has been said - and by more than one person.

You made it clear that you don't care by deflecting and not answering my question. But I'll give you a second chance to redeem your honor.

What have you done to help out this family in their unfortunate plight (and trying to put other posters down on this forum does NOT count as helping)??

I didn't answer it because I thought it was childish and immature.

But since it apparently needs to be pointed out - I'm under no obligation to answer it and whether I do or not proves nothing one way or the other. I'm not required to validate the truth of my opinion by playing a childish game for your person gratification.

The psychology of that only works if I actually care about what you think or want your approval...

Thank you. I thought perhaps I wasn't putting it clearly enough, while still trying to be civil.

Just a few posts ago you stated that it was natural (and OK) to not have empathy for strangers. So no, I don't think your point is clear. At all ;-)

See, when you put these two posts together, it is clear that I didn't say what you said I said. Quite the opposite, in fact. How about we just go back to the topic at hand, and stop sniping at folks who don't agree with your views?
