Toddler at N400 interview?

Hi,

Wondering if anyone here took their child along to the interview.

I was due to have my N400 interview next Friday, but I've just received a notice in the mail today cancelling that date and rescheduling me for later in October.

This late change has really put the cat among the pigeons re: planning.

For the new date my wife will be out--of-state on business travel so I'll be home alone with a two-year-old. I don't really have much in terms of a support network where I live at present, but while I still hope to figure out someone who could look after my daughter for the day, in a worst-case scenario, would I be able to bring her along?

Another option is to request a reschedule for a time when your spouse will be able to keep the child.

I wouldn't bring the kid- it will be stressful for them and you, and keep in mind you may be waiting in a crowded, noisy waiting room for hours. In the USCIS office I attended, they have crayons and coloring sheets for the kids, but it is still a boring waiting room with nothing to do, and a lot of nervous people who do not want to help entertain your toddler.

The best option would be to delay the interview until such a time that your wife or a trusted caregiver can look after the toddler. If you don't want to do that; well, you have a few weeks to find and interview a babysitter (which may be a good idea for other emergencies anyways), or find a drop-in daycare.

We brought our son along, but they let all 3 of us into the room together during the interview. But at least I was able to take care of our son while she was interviewed. It would have been difficult for her alone with him, since he was already quite fussy after driving through the night for 9 hours to get there.

Please do not take the baby to the interview.i do not know if you can or can not but i absolutely do not want my 2 year old in the interview room, answering all the questions before me . i hope you will find a babysitter.
